I am a full-time student and while I am not remarried, my current spouse does pay for majority of the bills and many of our expenses. He has already filed his taxes and claimed our daughter. I have two other children whose father died 5 years ago. The three of us (two children and I) receive individual checks a month and three different 1099 forms at the end of the year. I have to count all this money for everything all the time as family income.....including anything and everything with the government.
My question is.....since SSA qualifies for the stimulus payment - do I count these amounts together since they are minors or are they not counted at at? Each by themselves does not make the $3,000 amount to actual recieve a rebate but together they do.
I called the IRS and they said no, called the Social Security Office and they said yes, so called the IRS again and they said no but can try and it wont hurt me but I cant find a place to itimize the amounts
any advice?
I dont want to file in my name and add the amounts together when they do come seperately. It would look like a lie that way. I cant seem to find a free file anywhere that will let me add childrens income
