I've recently accepted a job offer with a governmental agency, and I'm curious to know if they do or allowed to check IRS or tax records in their pre-employment screenings. I was once told that searching IRS/tax records was prohibited by the 4th amendment (unlawful searches and seizures) but I'm unsure. Any help?
