Do Glow Fish lay Eggs?

Yes, they lay eggs. They're considered egg scatterers, they'll scatter the eggs all over the bottom of the tank. Best way to breed them is to move the mom/dad into a separate tank with marbles on the bottom. The eggs will fall in between the marbles so they can't eat them. Then, when they're done, remove the parents so the eggs can hatch.

Glo Fish are zebra danios and are similar to them except for the fact that they glow, so yes they can ^^

If it's staying in one spot, it might be stressed or just resting.

hate to break it to you but breeding them is illegal.
"Glofish are genetically modified animals, and patented by Yorktown Technologies, Inc. Intentional breeding of Glofish is currently prohibited."

i couldn't believe it myself.

ok wow look it up if you don't believe me.

EDIT: not all fish lay eggs so whoever is saying they do is the stupid one! (and platypus lay eggs but they are mammals)

Glow fish were genetically designed to change colour in sewage.

90% are sterile, they are banned in the UK because they are mutant creations.

Pretty much like do you want a five legged dog that glows in the dark.

And Danio breeders, you need a breeding tank or mammy and daddy eat the eggs :o)

If by "glow fish" you mean glowlight tetra then the answer is yes they are egg scatterers and lay adhesive eggs.

Actually from what i know
Breeding isnt illegal
but if you plan to sell the offspring that is illegal. So i wont bother breeding because if you are successful you will end up with a ton of little fish and no place for them to get. And i am sure if you would not have enough friends to give them all to. And that would be willing to take them.
But yes they do lay eggs but i doubt that is why she is staying in one spot. Maybe the pH is off. because i had glow fish but they died in a week because they are very sensitive. And the first thing they did was stayed in one spot. So i am not saying they are going to die but check the pH with a strip you can buy from a pet store.

Good Luck =]

to add to what o.O said. Zebra danios are egg scatters which means the female scatters the eggs and the male follows behind and fertilizes them. They do not engage in parental care at all and often times eat the eggs as soon as they are laid. So no shes not laying eggs shes stressed out and hiding if shes a she and not a he. They are schooling fish and need to be in groups of at least 5 to be happy and swim around, otherwise they will hide. Good Luck

Google Zebra Danios Care.

EDIT LOL: They are not illegal to breed, they are bred in Florida and they supply the U.S. with them. They are illegal to own in some states like California and so may be illegal to breed there by default but there's no government ban on breeding glow lights. They patented however so you can't breed them in large numbers and sell them or you will get sued.

The only reason they are illegal is because people are retarded, whats the worst that can happen if a glowing fish is released and breeds in the wild ? Its not a food fish and its not like if its eaten they are gonna pass on the glowing gene to a Predator fish ? That's dumb to even ban them, its just a group of uptight most likely religious people that like always don't get or understand all the facts. They just stick their nose up and say no, idiots.
