Do GCSEs play a 'massive role' when applying to uni?

ok. im currently doing my GCSEs and i should get 2A*s, 6As and 2Bs. the Bs are in english which isnt my strongest point...i want to study economics at LSE or oxford/cambridge. presume i got 3As at A2 but a C in english lit at GCSE would they still look at me?
