The key issue being discussed in this article is the importance of growing ones own organic food as opposed to always buying from stores. Michelle Obama decided to produce an herb garden on the White House grounds with the help of twenty-six elementary schoolchildren. This issue affects Brampton because many Canadians respect and admire the Obama family and they are taking steps toward creating a grow-your-own-food movement and trying to inspire others to do the same. I think what the Obamas’ are doing is a really good way to show that they care. They were approached by over 100, 000 gardeners trying to teach people to grow their own food. By using the food grown themselves as well as by donating it to local soup kitchens, they are showing that the consumption of locally grown and organic food is a great thing.
 
Yes, it is a great example for other US families to follow and help to a lesser extend the food self sufficiency and the use of fresh food. I think she is the first first lady to start a garden in white house after Mrs. Roosevelt.
