Do fish sleep??????20 chara?

My gold fish are always moving. Do they sleep?
Our goldfish are actually very pampered.

We have a huge 120 gallon tank and very nice filtration system. We just like them and so does our 2 yr old.

I was just wondering if they sleep!
 
No, they don't sleep the way do. If it gets too dark to see then they will come to a state of rest you might refer to as sleeping, but it's not a replenishing type of sleep that we need. If the tank has even a little light on it all the time they might see enough to move around and then they won't sleep.
 
Of course fish sleep, they just don't lie on the top of the gravel (or that would be a bad sign!)

Fish are usually active, and when they are sleeping they move around slowly.

Make sure the tank is at LEAST a 20 gallon, b/c goldfish are VERY messy fish, and you MUST have a filter and have finished the break-in cycle, or they will be all crazy from it. Please do 30% water changes every week.

How big of a tank are they in now?

P.S. When you do water changes, you must use water dechlorinator to condtion the water before you pour it into the tank, or the the fish will have shock from the different bad chemicals in the water (to make it safe for us people to drink it).
