Do dub opinions go both ways?

Japanese prefer subbed versions of Hollywood movies. American movies/music/TV shows are EXTREMELY popular in Japan, as popular as Japan's own live-action stuff.

The fact is that Hollywood is the DOMINANT (and I mean DOMINANT) form of entertainment in this world. Doesn't matter if it's Japan, Germany, Mexico, or wherever... Hollywood movies are shown everywhere. Most movie audiences in the world are used to reading subbed versions of Hollywood films.

It's only American audiences that for the most part don't like subbed foreign films. Yeah, you got the few foreign film fanatics & art-house critics, but by & large, Americans are used to their own movies.

As someone who lives in Japan, I can say that, while American animation may not be as popular in Japan as Japanese animation is in the U.S., it's still in the public eye. The kiRAB at the schools I teach at all know who Spongebob is while the college crowd know about shows like Transformers and Batman and whatnot.

The thing about Japan is that it produces so much animation itself that there just isn't enough time in the schedule (most free networks only allow two hours a day) to air dubs of American cartoons. Kind of like American networks favoring American cartoons over foreign stuff.

That might be due to the movies, there have been movies released about Batman and Transformers. Plus I assume the Japanese like transformers and PPG, because they made anime versions of those shows. Plus didn't the Spider-Man movies do well really well there?

Here's a question do Japanese people prefer the American versions of PPG and Transformer or the Japanese versions?

Well they are showing foreign cartoons on Cartoon Network and Disney XD , only there from Canada, instead. I'm not sure anime is as popular with the younger generation as it once was. So really saying anime is popular in America then American cartoons are in Japan isn't saying much. For the past part there are not pop culture references in America about anime, for example. Its pretty niche nowadays.
