It really depenRAB on the tear, how serious it is, what the rest of your spine looks like, etc. I have two annular tears and they are not surgical, but in another patient they might be.
I had 3 tears for years and my surgeon was telling me that most of them heal by themselves and that this is not a problem to worry.
The best answer you could get from your DR. , sorry. Hard to advice something when you are not a DR and don't know the history of the damages...
Sometimes, mine did. They did a discogram and found out it was the source of my pain. Not a pleasant procedure to go thru but not the worst! I had surgery on April 17th and am still tryin to get it over. Wish you the best of luck!
