Do arguments play a role in your religion? Disagreements? Debate?

Congregational argumentation is not a part of my religion; however, selfdebate is necessary for ones personal growth. The truth itself cannot be argued with but if you know the truth can be!

Yes -- argument and critical examination of the evidence are central to the skeptic's way of understanding the Universe.

Oh yes, When I got to University I found that debating and questioning the faith I grew up with had amazing rewards. It made me realise that a lot of what I was taught or believed in in my childhood was not exactly proven (debatable) or significant to my faith and that there are other ways of looking at things without giving up the fundamentals of my faith. I think this especially helped in accepting those of different denomonations and knowing where people of different faiths were coming from. It also helped me become more confident in the reasons for believing in what I believe in.

Debate was always a method for learning. I was considered quarrelsome by those that did not understand. I have never been one to just swallow whole whatever I have been told...show me, prove out your line of thinking.
Not very popular in many Christian churches I went to. While I learned, I also have the satisfaction of knowing it caused others around me, hearing it, to think about what they were listening to.

Yes, actually. I used to be an atheist, and it was the works of apologists that let me to believe in Christianity. I know that many atheists can't fathom the fact that a rational person could disagree with them, and I will probably now be looked upon as indoctrinated and deluded, but questioning, disagreement, and debate all helped me to find my faith and strengthen it.

I think part of this is due to the fact that I come from a Jewish tradition, where debate and argument are part of the faith.

one of the ways we improve ourselves is by arguing , sadly most of the time neither wants to give in

No I approach religious and philosophical debate objectively and I sometimes play devil's advocate and state viewpoints that oppose my own because I enjoy debating the topic. Nothing I've read or heard in any debate has caused me to question my atheism.
