I've noticed that my Pokemon Crystal and Pokemon Gold games have fizzed out, so that saving progress is no longer possible. My Silver edition, meanwhile, can still manage to save, and as far as I remember, that was the one which we purchased first. So I'm assuming that the breakdown is based on usage, is it not? And do all of them suffer this problem?

Yes, usage. It could be any game with saveability. The game probably got knocked around in the wrong way. However, newer games, with the exception of DS chips, can take much more bumping around before they start breaking. Just be glad that the games still actually work. :)

I got crystal waay before it came out here from japan but in english and that wouldnt save.

Are they UK copies?
