Okay, my boyfriend is 18 years old. We live in Illinois, Chicagoland area, Cook county. He has never taken a Driver's Ed course, and I don't think he's ever even -tried- to drive a car.
His situation is a little difficult: His parents live an hour from here, and his aunt and uncle barely have time to teach him... Driver's Ed was too expensive when he could've taken it.
But, if he WERE to go driving, with a licensed driver in the passenger's seat, would he need a permit? Or could he just go? If he were pulled over, what would happen?
Also, I'm 18, have had my license for two years- could I teach him, legally?
Basically, how is he supposed to learn how to drive? I know he could just go test for his license if he knew how to drive, but he doesn't...
Please help us out, we're so confused and everyone is telling me different things with no proof.
