I'm a 38 year old female that has cronic Floating, dizzy, ear ringing, headache, right sided facial peralisis, and numbing on the right side of the body. I have been like this since Feb of this year and would like my life back.

dizzygirl,

I would suggest that you see a neurologist if you have not already. I would also suggest making sure that you get an MRI of your head and cervical spine. I would also request some blood work to rule out any viral infections.

Let me know how you are doing.

I have had 5 MRI's 3 CT scans, EEG, and Blood test that would shame a vampire. They say there is nothing wrong with my brain, but agree I have a balance and dizziness issue. I just had some water test where they pumped water into my ears and I felt like I was spinning out of control. I have gone through 3 Nerologists, 2 Ent's and now they are sending me to some physo babble shrink who hypnotises me. What next??? Nothing seems to help tried Serc, Ciprilex (head Pills), and now a diretitic that makes me feel worse. I want my life back

dizzygirl,

Forget the shrink, I have no idea what the diuretics are going to do for you. Think back to February when this all started. Anything new that you did, moved, changed your diet, fell, got bit by a bug?

Request all of your records and read through all the notes and results of all of your tests. See what is written by the doctors who saw you, read what they were looking for. Read all of the MRI, CT and Lab Reports. Read all the referral letters, see what the referring doctors said about you. This may give you an idea of which doctors took you seriously and what was told to you and what the reading of your test results really were. You will also see what blood work was requested and if you were tested for everything, like Lyme Disease, Epstein Barre Disease, rheumatoid arthritis...some other type of autoimmune diseases.

This may give you some idea of where to turn to next.

Let me know how you are doing.

Hi Brenda, I noticed the dizzy about 2 1/2 years ago. It would tend to happen after flying or staying in high rise hotels. I thought it was because I wan't used to flying. I didn't pay to much attention to it. I started feeling off last summer, and just kept on going full speed ahead. I'm a insurance Sales person by trade, a moble agent payed by commission and salary. So I'm very motivated.

Then in the end of October I just plain burnt out. Went to Dr, and she told me to take Ciprilex (Anti depresent) and take a couple of weeks off. So I did and returned to work with a new approach of Slow IT Down. I was feeling good and they in Late January I started to feel the dizzy more and more. Foggy Vision, Vertigo, ear ringing, ear fullness, stumbeling like I was drunk and a total lack of balance. I was walking into things and was covered in bruses on my right side. I went to get my eyes checked and my perscription had changed over one point in a 14 month period. So I got new contacts. Then they told me to go get a hearing test. Loosing my hearing in both ears but mostly the right side. Then the neck pain and numbness and facial peralisis on the right side of my face. So they told me i might have a tumor so I went to Calgary for a MRI. It was clean. When in Calgary I started getting numbness in my hands and right leg and foot. So now I'm having mini strokes. More tests, CT and MRI. Still nothing. I'm getting worse, so now I have MS. More tests nothing shows up. But its clear to them there is something wrong with me. I have gone through 4 Neorologists and 2 ENT's. Now the physo bable BS from some shrink lady to is going Trans Hypnosis. It's not working either. Just had an appointment today with an ENT and he says I have to wait and go and see some specialist in Victoria BC Canada to get some kind of steriod injection in my middle ear. What next??? I feel like a pinball.

Thats enough complaining for now. LOL It's always nice to vent.

I'm lucky I have a great ENT that is taking me very serious and is bound to help me. I'm greatfull for that.

I have tried changing my diet, no booze, no Salt, ect ect.

Krista,

I suggest that you obtain the MRI reports. I also suggest that you request a VI test (visual invoke test). The neurologist that you saw, was he/she an expert in MS, because you do seem to have some very clear symptoms of MS. (there is a MS board here that you may be interested in reading). I would also find out if the radiologist who read your MRI of your brain is also a neuroradiologist with experience in reading MS related MRI studies. I say this because I had an MRI of my brain a couple of months ago and it was read as additional MRI type lesions. So the thought was that I had MS, it turns out that the radiologist who read the film really did not have the experience reading head MRI's and misread the lesions as ms lesions when in fact they were lesion associated with small vessel disease.

I would also request an MRI of your cervical spine with and without contrast ( I hope all of your Brain MRI's were done with and without contrast?). The other possible cause of your symptoms could be a herniated disc in sitting in your spinal canal. Again from recent experience, while it was originally thought that I had MS, on my follow-up visit with my neurologist, who retested everything only to find out that my reflexes changed dramatically in the two weeks since she saw me, decided to check out my neck since I did have a previously herniated disc treated. Well she was right, the disc below the treated disc had in fact herniated and was pressing on my spinal cord. I was seen within two days by a neurosurgeon who scheduled urgent surgery. I spend 3 days in the hospital, one week out of work and will return for a follow up in two weeks to discuss my physical therapy. I can not tell you how much better I feel. It is amazing to think that swelling in legs and pain in my feet, heavy and tired feeling in my legs was all caused by one little cervical disc.

Keep up the fight--again forget the shrink, they treat what is mentally wrong not what we both know if physical.

Good luck and keep me updated

Brenda
