dizziness

My dad recently took sick leave from work due to feeling dizzy. I couldnt believe it was so bad that they gave him time off work. He went back a few days ago and today came home early because he said he felt dizzy again. Im worried for him and his job too but i dont know what could be causing the dizziness. He said that every now and then, without warning, he feels dizzy and obects feel as though theyre moving. a bit like if you spin really fast and then stop and you feel unbalanced. he didnt say anything about blurry vision or anything, but has anyone heard of this condition before or anyone know what it can be?

Vertigo comes to mind...that can be caused by a simple inner ear infection, or it could be something more serious. Best to get it checked out by a neurologist.
 
It definately sounds like your dad has vertigo, which is an inbalance of the inner ear and tends to be caused by a virus. Vertigo comes on suddenly, without warning and apparently gives you the same symptoms your dad seems to be experiencing. He should try gravol, and he should see a doctor cause he might need a prescription for serc, at the same time check on the net there are several exercises he can do that may be of help. If it is vertigo, not to worry, it is very common and can go away as fast as it comes.
