I have a Zenith brand stereo that's probably around 20 years old, it's been in the home since I was a baby. Something got stuck in the headphone port (big stereo headphone connector) and so I'm opening my stereo to remove the object from the headphone port. It has also had a problem with randomly shutting off, so I'm also going to try and solve that problem as well since I am opening it in the first place.
I've already unplugged it. What other precautions should I take? And while we're at it, what part in a stereo causes it to turn on or off?
