I mounted mine on a piece of 1/4" plastic, counterbored a hole big enough on the back side to epoxy nuts in and screwed the outlet onto the plastic. Then I mounted it to the speaker bolts in the tour pack. I then carefully cut a hole in the liner. Very solid. Wired it straight tio the battery with an in line fuse.
 
Here are before and after pics of my brake pedal mod. I did not have enough room on the floorboard with the "giant" pedal HD puts on our baggers, so I cut down the pedal with a dremmel and put on a dyna pedal. Took about 30 minutes. Just be patient with the dremmel!!
 
after adding the fairing last year, i decided over the winter i would add some music to the set up. of course music on a budget. i took a piece of cardboard and made a template for the dash panel. the panel is made of a piece of sheet metal i had laying around. i wanted textured paint and could not find it so i ened up using bed liner in a spray can. i bought two 3-1/2" speakers and mounted them to the panel. i have the mini tach so i had to make the speakers fit on either side. i bought a mini amp, wired it tot he aux switch, and mounted it under the seat behind the left side panel. Wired it all up but i have not been able to road test it yet for sound level.
i also wanted to be able to remove the fairing and unplug the set up so i could ride without having to hide wiring. So i bought 2 plugs from radio shack to disconnect the speakers. i believe they were for remote control car batteries or something. All in about 70 bucks. i have always liked to use an ipod shuffle for riding. it is small, light, and does not cost much if you lose it. You can also control the volume and tracks by pushing on it. that is easier when riding than a normal ipod. PLus without a screen, these things play for hours on a charge. to mount it i just took a piece of velcro and put it on the handlebar cover. easy to reach and use. anyway thought i would put this out there for people who bought a batwing fairing from Memphis shades. if you do not have the tach, you have a lot more room for bigger speakers and an ipod mount.
