"DIY MODS" and TRICKS to SAVE $$$$$$

I purchased a stock 2004 classic (electra glide) and punched the baffles out. I noticed an immediate improvement in the acceleration from stop. High end performance didn't change. NExt for me is to mod the exhaust to a true dual and replace the pipes.

I bought some cheap after market antennas from the auto parts store, believe it or not they were $4.00 apiece. They work okay but I think I would like to cut down the stock ones. The only problem is I can't seem to get the antenna to slide down past the spring, how did you guys do it?

Tuco069 Look on the side and there is an alen screw on the side. Loosen it up pull out the antenna cut it and put it back in and tighten the alen screw back up.

Thanks Moondog99, I'll give that a try. I did loosen the screw but tried to push the antenna through the spring. Yeah, I do push a lot of doors that say pull.

To whoever posted the initial idea on the garage door opener---Thank you! I just finished this mod myself on an 09 Street Glide and put a total of $6 dollars in it. I used an extra remote that I had and paid $3 for a momentary switch from Radio Shack along with $3 for some velcro. I used the blanks in the filler panel and put the opener up in the fairing. It took me about an hour (and 4 beers but I drink fast) and it is up and running. My wife said it looks like the switch was meant to be there!

Again, thanks for a great idea.

there's a lot of discussions about visibility and lighting. At night, my 04 E-glide classic is ok, but daytime I want to be NOTICED! I began searching for lighting. Here's my first addition. A set of side marker lights that look pretty good. My only reservations were drilling a 1 inch hole in the tour pak!
They function as turn signals only. I have considered a set of RED ones like these to augment the brake lights..but I'm going to wait. They look decent..the chrome bezel around the outside is neat, the thickness (less than 1/2 uinch) makes them low profile.

I am looking for a road king gas tank.am going to split into three pieces weld in an inch on each side of back bone to up fuel capicity on a 90 fxrs.i've seen pics of a fxrt with same treatment out of seatle(wildwestcycles.com)If anyone has a tank they can let go of ...

Just did the install. Aside from tinning the wires with solder (my preference), it took me a total of 5 minutes....if that.

Good find and worth the $5.49.

Wanted a windshield bag, but didn't want to drop $75 for the HD version. Too small, black latch & too much $$.
Found a "generic" bag with chrome studs for $30 at a local shop, ordered a bag of 10 "black studs" from the Mustang seat folks for $4, and swapped the studs, same holes and all. Ended up with this after about 10 mins work.
