I had heard about using a plastic 2 liter soda bottle under the oil filter to catch any of the drips. After cutting the side out and trimming the bottle, I did not know how useful the discarded piece would be.
I rolled up the plastic from the side of the bottle and used as a funnel for the main oil fill. I next used the same plastic to add the oil to the primary. Next I rolled it even tighter to fill the transmission.
When I was done, I pitched it with the remainder of the bottle used to catch the oil from the filter.
Made the oil change relatively mess-free, and at $0.69 for the Coke to mix with the Jim Beam, you can't beat that.
