You can watch it breath and you can see when the moisture has "cooked" out of the crankcase also

I have been pm'd by many about this so I decided to post the thread on the DIY forum. It was my experience in adding cb/intercom, tour-pak w/rear speakers to my 07 Road Glide. This is the post:

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Like many people a new bike puts a limit on cash and a set of slip on mufflers or a true duels is not going to happen for a while. My buddy took a hole saw to the stock baffles. The hole saw may vary due to different pipes but get one that JUST fits on the inside of the pipes. Cut slow use cutting fluid. I did this on a sportster (carb) and there was better response on the throttle. His EG runs great and he hasn't noticed any difference in preformance. This is ultra cheap! when it comes to the sound of the exhaust.
No he did not remap his EFI. His bike runs great (for more than two years) and I'm sold. The exhaust is very true to the HD sound. I did this on my 09 SG and everyone wonders why it sounds so good and is still "stock."

Herb, Herb! How's the economy ever going to recover with tightwads like your buddy and you? (Drilled my pipes two years ago and never looked back).

I just installed a garage door opener, per instructions from Jagerbomb (post 366 of this thread)--Works awesome and my riding buddies were very impressed as well. Easy job, works great, cheap!

Highly recommended upgrade!

I wanted the clean look but be able to convert back to two up quickly. I drilled and filed out the ends of the front and bottom holes on the dtachable hardware and left the top back one since I have to use the long docking hardware bolt there anyhow. I got a 1 1/4" bolts (chrome naturally) for the top front and then can just back them out part way along with the bottom bolts and slide the hardware in and tighten down. I used the longer bolts so that things stay aligned. Thought this might help since I think the docking hardware distracts fr the clean rear fender look.

I had heard about using a plastic 2 liter soda bottle under the oil filter to catch any of the drips. After cutting the side out and trimming the bottle, I did not know how useful the discarded piece would be.
I rolled up the plastic from the side of the bottle and used as a funnel for the main oil fill. I next used the same plastic to add the oil to the primary. Next I rolled it even tighter to fill the transmission.
When I was done, I pitched it with the remainder of the bottle used to catch the oil from the filter.
Made the oil change relatively mess-free, and at $0.69 for the Coke to mix with the Jim Beam, you can't beat that.

Hi Scrooge, I have an older RK with SE pipes which I have just had re-built but still sound like an asthmatic buffalo. As I still have the original pipes I was wondering what 'drilling' involved....i.e. where, how and what exactly you drilled? I presume there will be forum thread precisely on this but thought I would ask anyway.

Thanks in advance

On the 06s there are two caps in each pipe, with a cat converter in front of the front cap on the right side pipe. Dealing with it is hardest because you have to do all work from the rear of the pipe in order to save the cat con. Remove the pipes and get started.

I went at it gradually. Started with a piece of rebar sharpened to a point to punch holes in the end caps. Not loud enough. Went to a larger size rebar, but still not loud enough. I finally got a drill bit extension rod and a hole saw that barely fit inside the pipe and drilled away until the end caps were gone. This gave a sound that to me is just about right.
