Ditching iPhone4 for HTC Evo

Okay I need some advice here.

I was one of the very first to successfully place the pre-order for the iphone4. It was early Tuesday morning around 7:45. I had zero issues and it all went through in 1 attempt. It also states on the confirmation that it should arrive around June 24.

Now I have decided I no longer want the iPhone4 and will be picking up an EVO tomorrow. I called ATT to cancel the iPhone order and she said it is already processed and possibly en route so she could not cancel it, but that I would just need to refuse shipment or if I receive it, simply ship it back for a full refund.

NOW TO THE QUESTION:
Do I refuse shipment? Or do I list this mfer on ebay for a premium and when I get the phone just tell ATT to shove it and charge me the $325 cancellation fee? Can I do this? Is there any other penalty in doing this? Like will it affect my credit or anything like that?

Thx

I recall something about having to return the handset or be billed the full MSRP price of it if service is terminated within a certain timeframe. I'm not sure; it's something you'd want to check on.

Would it be so bad to try the iPhone 4 first?

You should be able to return the phone quickly without a penalty, but I'm not convinced the Evo 4G is all that anymore. Very short battery life and that huge size aren't my idea of a good phone.

I heard the EVO 4G battery can barely last a day. You certainly will be charged the full price of the phone if you do not return it.

Make sure you have good Sprint coverage. Sprint only uses 1900Mhz CDMA and building penetration is mediocre at best in most cases. If you are in an area with AT&T that uses 850 & 1900 you will be better off with the iPhone 4.

I checked with AT&T and they said I could just pay the early term fee which is $325 so it would come out to be a $525 total investment. So going by current ebay prices, I should be able to sell it for around 800+ and have it pay for my new HTC EVO lol

You'd be shocked to see how many people will pay a premium for getting a sold out device weeks before it is available. I was one of the first to pre-order this Tuesday morning and it will be here June 24th. Most others will have to wait till mid july or august. People will pay hundreds more to have it in the first few days. Its crazy, but true.

I would refuse the package. Usually once you open the phone and try it there is some restocking/other fees. You will also be responsible for tracking. If you refuse it will all be on Fedex/UPS.
