District 9?

Saw this last night and was very impressed. Started off a little slowly with the documentary style following our bumbling lead around but soon turned into a great sci-fi action movie with a nice topical, satirical slant. Considering the modest budget i thought the SFX were flawless and the lead actor was very good- even though I agree he sounded a bit Scouse when swearing! 8/10
 
I thought it was great. The documentary/news report style worked very well at the start and was rather funny - and the allegorical nature of the film, basically like apartheid but with aliens was very clever. The ending was very powerful.
Great film.
 
I seen this film last week, was surprised big time, its a low budget movie (Heard the dude who made it, made his cash back in one weekend), but its well good. That good I'm looking forward to a sequel.
 
The finest alien sci-fi film of all-time IMO.

I can't believe how good this film is.

I'm going to have to watch it again; it's that good.:cool:
 
This film must be raking it in, because it is still being shown in all cinemas at numerous times of the day after more than a month!:eek:

I'm glad about that, as it deserves to do well.

Lets hope that District 10 doesn't ruin the legacy.
 
It's a South African film, with South African actors. What did you expect? Would you prefer a group of people wandering around Johannesburg inexplicably talking in American accents, or perhaps they could cast Leonardo di Caprio and give him another go at completely butchering the South African accent?

Oh - and in response to a couple of other posters - the way the South African actor says "f*ck" is not an alternative, less offensive South African way of saying the word. It's the Afrikaans translation of the word - which is a completely different language.
