...in the current media? Hey I'm just about to go into my last year at Uni. I'm studying fashion promotion and I'm currently gathering research for my dissertation which is on shock advertising. This is obviously a broad subject and we are required to be more specific.
I initially began with looking at the difference between using 'shock' to promote fashion companies and as a means to draw attention to public service advertisements. However I discovered that there wasn't many recent articles on this and it wasn't particularly a current topic.

After much research I therefore decided to specifically look at how the media, and in particular fashion advertising, has began to directly as well as indirectly sexualise young children. I also wanted to research what negative effects this might have on the youth of today and who is really to blame and who is really to blame for this sudden surge in 'corporate paedophilia'. So I was wondering if anyone had any views or information on this topic or had recently done a similar paper.

This is the dissertation question I have came up with so far, it needs reworking but I need some constructive criticism!...

'Images of sexualised children in the media are becoming increasingly common, particularly in fashion advertising and marketing material.
Is this premature sexualisation of children within the media, presenting the youth of today with greater pressures to adopt a more sexualised appearance and behaviour at an early age? If so, what are the negative effects that may be encountered through this type of ‘corporate paedophilia’?

And before you ask my lecturers have been really pants with helping me and haven't replied to any of my emails so far!

Any help much appreciated, thanks! x
