Displaying Screen on External Monitor

I am thinking of ideas for a school project. I want to display my Nexus One's screen onto an external monitor. Is this possible?

I have been looking through the Android SDK and cannot seem to find what i need.

Thanks

I think this is it but I'm not sure if you need to be rooted or not.

You need a whole lot of stuff on hand for the usb host.

There was also a VNC Server floating around for Android which would allow the phone's screen to be viewed remotely on a laptop. Many laptops could then be connected to a TV...

Back in 2010 when this was writter you indeed needed root for screencast, http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-hacks/16868-screencast-best-reason-yet-root.html#post155033. It may have evolved now so root isn't needed.

We are getting older, one year at a time. I think it might have been mouse and keyboard controls that needed root not the complete program, but without mouse and keyboard controls what good is screencast. DDMS in the sdk is much better for capturing screenshots.

You know what I mean though... I hear kids speaking about "last month" as if it felt like an eternity ago to them. I speak about the 1990s like it was yesterday.

Yeah I know

DDMS? On the Galaxy S you just hold Back and press Home and it snaps a screenshot.

Hrm - nearly at that time of year again when I start getting gadgetitis and need to buy a new phone...

I have a full upgrade but with AT&T buying T-Mobile US and saying once the merger is final we'll have to buy a new phone from AT&T unless we would be happy with edge I think I will wait and see what unfolds. I was really wanting the HTC Pyramid or the LG 2GX but will wait and see.
