Disney's Doug, All Grown Up, or R&S Adult Party Cartoon?

I vote 'None of the Above', but then I was never a huge fan of the 3 original shows that these 3 spun off from.

I respect the original Nicktoons trinity for paving the way for original animation on Nick, but IMPO, the first above par Nicktoon was the 4th one, Rocko's Modern Life.

Disney's Doug and AGU were tolerable (I actually preferred AGU to Rugrats, but that's mostly because I absolutely loathed Rugrats).

APC was sewage, and cemented my opinion that John K was an overrated hack.

I think that I am going to go with Disney's Doug. It wasn't my favorite show it the world but I remember catching a few episodes on ABC. I also remember watching it on Toon Disney when my family first got that channel. Since I never really watched much Nick until 1998, I have seen far more Disney's Doug than Nick's Doug in my life.

Rugrats All Grown Up was okay I guess. It should have really only stayed a special IMO. I have never seen Ren & Stimpy Adult Party, but from what I heard about it, that's probably a good thing.

If I had to pick one, I'd pick Disney's Doug. It may not have been as good as it's predecessor; but at least it wasn't a complete insult to it.

All Grown Up just had no reason to exist outside of that one "special episode". The whole POINT of Rugrats was to see the world through the eyes of babies. That's what made it unique and clever. Once those babies were turned into middle-schoolers, it was just another generic Nick tween show about kids doing (mostly boring) stuff.

And Adult Party Cartoon was just vile. I know Ren and Stimpy was always a gross-out show (that's why I never even liked the "good" episodes); but at least the original series pulled off some great jokes. Adult Party Cartoon opted for the "Nasty/Controversial=FUNNY" route (aka the Family Guy route :p) and failed miserably.

Yeah, I have to go with Doug. While the quality went downhill, it didn't go through a completely overhaul in tone like the other two shows did.

Different companies? Both were made by Jumbo, Klasky-Csupo, and Spumco respectively. If you mean "different networks", AGU also aired on Nick.

I never watched APC, so it's a choice between Disney's Doug and All Grown Up. If I had to choose one, I'd go with Disney's Doug. While it didn't have the same kind of quality the original series had, it was still pretty fun to watch. Most of the characters were still likable, a few made more interesting if I recall correctly, and the tone was basically the same.

All Grown Up wasn't that bad to me. In fact, I thought it was a nice change of pace since I was getting tired of just seeing the Rugrat characters as babies. While I agree that most of the problems and characters focused on typical pre-teen and teenage problems, it still went from tolerable to enjoyable most of the time. The main reason why I didn't vote for it was because it always annoy me how pre-teens or teens in animation almost always act older than they are, which definitely happened in All Grown Up as well.

Doug wins this matchup for me. If it were a battle between original shows I would have picked Ren & Stimpy, but Adult Party Cartoon was lame IMO. I liked the original Rugrats too, but All Grown Up was so-so. Both versions of Doug were great IMO so Doug gets the victory.

Out of these I gotta go with Disney's Doug, Skeeter cracked me up k.
Than All Grown Up would be my second choice, I did grow up with the Rugrats but it wasn't done to my liking

BrendaBat pretty much hit the nail on the head. APC was overly disgusting, and All Grown Up was simply a generic cartoon sitcom. Disney's Doug was the only show of the three that I really enjoyed.

Seriously, why exactly does Disney's Doug get so much hate, exactly? I don't get it.

Disney's Doug - I only saw a couple of episodes of Disney's Doug, but based on what I have seen, Disney's Doug was even more painfully Politically Correct than it's Nickelodeon predecessor was. Plus, I didn't much care for the changes made to the cast.

All Grown Up - BrendaBat crystalised my thoughts about AGU to a T. Nick should have left AGU as a one time only special. Turning it into an endless series was overkill. At least when the Rugrats characters were babies/toddlers, the show had an original premise. As tweens, the show was just a carbon copy of every other tween comedy that was airing at the time. Plus, it made no sense that the main characters were between 10 and 11, yet they acted like teenagers. The only characters who are excused are Angelica and Susie, who actually were teenagers (they were 13). The only good thing to come from AGU was that here, Dyl actually had a personality and wasn't just a walking poop joke.

Ren & Stimpy: Adult Party Cartoon - The post Nickeloden R&S shorts were awful, disgusting, nauseating, crude and worst of all, not funny. Half way through the short "Fire Dogs 2", I stood up and said "Done!".

So, as a choice of the 3, I guess that Disney's Doug wins, but by a very small margin.

I picked APC over the other two. Mostly because i never was that into AGU and the "ABC" version of dough was meh, compared to the nicktoon original.

Now, i see alot of people happen to hate APC. Why is that? what is really so wrong about the show? Have you all gone insane? Or is it that all you watched of the show was the spike tv version? If so then FOR SHAME! You need to go grab the "ren and stimpy lost cartoons" dvd right now.

And a special note to blackstar. You have no sense of humor if you can't see the genius that IS ralph bakshi in Fire Dogs 2.

EDIT: i just also wanted to mention, that the "gross humor" is the POINT of it. These cartoons were designed to be what Ren and Stimpy were SUPPOSED to be, but weren't able to be because of Nickelodeon and their censors.

Disney's Doug; in fact I'd say it was, on the whole, better than the original, not that that's saying all that much

All Grown Up was alright from what I saw, but making the Rugrats grow up is sort of like making Tom and Jerry friends; alright as an occassional novelty, but a whole series of it goes against the appeal of the characters and their world

Adult Cartoon Party had its moments, but on the whole it was wearying in its general unpleasantness

O, Jebus... who should I pick? Three boring shows who should I pick?

I'll have to go with Dough, for one reason and for one reason only: I watched it as a kid and back then I disliked it, alot.

I'm OK with that, I suppose. Different strokes for different folks and all that. I'll concede to the fact that about 80% of the time, I just plain don't "get" Ren & Stimpy, and I really fail to see how a guy needing assistance going to the john for 4 minutes qualifies as being funny, let alone "genius". Perhaps I just missed the subtleties. It has been a few years since I've seen the short, although I doubt I would enjoy "Fire Dogs 2" any more if I were to watch it now.

I went with Doug, I still prefer the original more, but it wasn't something I necessarily minded. Basically, it didn't make me question the purpose and make me outright avoid it.

All Grown Up - I also agree with what others have said: it was fine for a one-time special, and shouldn't have gone past that. Rugrats was already going down the drain at that time; it just couldn't live up to the first few seasons. In addition, they all acted so old. They're ten and eleven! Ten and eleven year-olds don't act anything like that unless trying to mimic someone they look up to (in which case it feels so false). And I know these shows are unrealistic, but they could have easily upped the age or just reworked the personalities and given them a preteen vibe. How are we even supposed to take Tommy and his girlfriend seriously when they're both about 10? Even thirteen year-olds don't act like Susie and Angelica did, or at least to that extent. Oh, and I didn't like how the character development was handled much.

Adult Party - I'll admit, I've never seen it. However, I was never fond of the original. Considering this one's content, it's safe to say I wouldn't like it.

I pretty much agree with the notion that Disney's Doug was the best of the bunch, but not by much.

The Doug and Ren and Stimpy revivals also really, really, REALLY suffer from the lack of Billy West. In fact, Billy should have shown episodes of them to FOX when they were talking about recasting Futurama.

Disney's Doug: Of the three shows it was the one that at least admitted it's differences outfront. I mean the first episode of Disney's Doug was explaining the new continuity of Doug's life and the differences of how it was compared to the old Nickelodeon Doug. And yeah though it was different in a lot of aspects it wasn't necessarily bad. The idea of having the character grow and change is actually something unique for a cartoon. Kind of a shame that they had to change Doug and Roger's voices but once I got use to him the new guy wasn't that bad. And though there were some pretty silly moments (Roger's family becoming millionares) there were also silly moments from the original show so it balances out.

All Grown Up: I always had a problem with the character designs of the show even compared to other Klasky Csupo cartoons, with how the characters didn't look like 10-11 year old kids compared to the 10-11 year olds from those other shows. Really it seems like they wanted All Grown Up to be more of a high school show then the kids as 10-13 year olds. There were some attempts at just more general kids stuff (the episode that had that Yu-Gi-Oh ripoff for example) but it never really worked out that well. Also though the interaction with the kids was alright it was never really that funny. At best it was mildly entertaining and at worse, fairly groan worthy.

Adult Party Cartoon: I saw a few episodes of this show before The Strip (the Spike TV Adult Swim esque block this show was on) faded. Really though the best episodes of this show were the episodes that were produced for the original Ren and Stimpy show ("Fire Dogs" and the never aired for 10+ years "Man's Best Friend"). While the rest was more disgusting and disturbing. The distrubing bits weren't too bad actually ("Ren Seeks Help" has some comedic moments) but the rest was really just disgusting. Really this is suppose to be the show John K wanted Ren and Stimpy to be but was slapped down by Nickelodeon's standards. For once I think a show being editted and had it's down "dumbed down" actually helped it since it allowed it to be more creative then the literal crap we got here.

Yeah I'm with Disney's Doug being the better "spinoff" of the original show. Irionically there are more Nicktoon spinoffs coming out now (one for Jimmy Neutron and one for Avatar and even a rumor of one for FOP) but I doubt we'll ever get a situation of Disney Doug or Adult Party Cartoon of them going to another network.
