disney movies

evening all I thought I'd take advantage of my insomnia to talk about disney movies! i love lion king, it really moves me, i weep buckets everytime i watch it, and oliver and company is awesome-that little orange thing aaaah!!!!!! anyone else? i was never struck on aladdin but i always loved that song 'a whole new world'
 
What I want to say about Disney Movies is what is their obsession with making crap direct-to-video sequels to their classic films- decades after they were made.
 
Brother Bear. The saddest movie made since Watership Down. I cried so much! And I only saw it a couple of weeks ago and I'm nearly 30 :eek: Still feel sad thinking about it! :cry:
 
Amazingly..........I know what you're talking about......... :D

I don't think I've seen that film since I saw it at the pictures as a little boy in the 1950s............. :eek:

( And i don't think I've seen any disney film made after about 1960........... :eek: )
 
Yay! Someone who agrees and doesn't think I'm a big wuss!

Edit... please don't tell me you're 8 years old and are on your parents computer :D
 
Jungle Book is my absolute favourite I think, such a fantastic feel-good film :)

Also like Lady and the Tramp, Aladdin and Bambi (so sad :cry: )

Not too keen on the really new disney films they seem too noisy and 'shouty', although I did enjoy monsters inc.
 
I like the older ones - Cinderella, Snow White, Pinocchio, Peter Pan.

Recent ones - Mulan was superb, The Lion King, The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Flops - The Emperor's New Groove, Oliver & Company & The Fox & The Hound
 
Pinocchio is the best cell animation film for me. Astounding what they achieved without the aid of computers. Pinoccio in the back of the covered wagon with the birdcage swinging about springs to mind.

I like the story behind Dumbo - the animators were on strike so some of the film contains caricatures of the strike leaders (as clowns) being annoyed with their pay...

Agreed about Lady and the Tramp. "He's a Tramp" is the best Disney song ever. Lovely film.
 
Bit of a unsung hereo, but Ducktails: Treasure of the Lost Lamp was awsome along with your traditional classics like Lion King/Pinocchio/Aladdin/Snow White etc.
 
Gawd, go and see the Loin King stage version. I went with my Mum on a business trip (we work together) and she had to hand the tissues to me! (I'm a big bear of a man).

EDIT: I once went to see Fantasia in an IMAX (Sony Center) with a friend and her 11 year old. It was amazing, I had seen it before but what better way to introduce kiRAB to the classics. Stupid kid just didn't get it, I told him he just got a bit of a classical education and in true Californian style, he said 'whatever'. He just didn't get it. I got it when I was 8 and to this day recognise music from the movie (of course), but then, I suppose I went to the theatre a lot at that age.
 
I love disney films and when my children were younger had a great excuse to buy them. I still do buy them but as they are 17 and 14 now can't use them as an excuse anymore. That said I love the Aristocats and the new pixar one Cars mater just creases me up.
