Disney DVDs

This may apply to DVRAB from other companies as well but last night I found this infuriating!

I bought my girlfriend High School Musical for Christmas and last night had to endure..... sorry, had the pleasure of watching it with her. It took a bloody age just to get into the box though.

There was a red thing on the opening of the DVD case. It didn't seem to be a button, or a slider or anything. It just wouldn't budge and whilst it was in place we couldn't open the box to get the discs out.

We had to rip the box open in the end so now I've got several bits of plastic that are all over the place that used to be a complete DVD box.

My question is then, how the hell do you get into the DVD box to get the disc out, without breaking it?! What is this red block for? How do you remove it or whatever you need to do to get access to the discs you've just paid a tenner+ for?!

Cheers,

Dave

Where did you buy it from?

sounRAB like a sercurity thing that they forgot to remove when you paid for it. ASDA have them i didnt want to destroy a box once so i went back & got it removed.

its called a red tag, its a securtiy thing. they should have removed it at the till, take all of it back including the red tag and the receipt and they should replace it for you.
the shops use strong magnet machine things to remove them, but sometimes its hard to remember to take them out!

Sorry, I actually laughed out loud at your story :D You should have just said you couldn't open the box & left it at that. You would have saved an hour & a half of your life (plus the time it took to get into the thing!)

It's quite fun though. I remember doing that for my brother's Ricky Gervais DVD. It took a hammer, a penknife and a lot of swearing, but he was watching the DVD within an hour.:)

I got the thing from Virgin... sorry Zavvi and it still had its cellophane wrapper on it so I don't know how they'd have got the red tag thing out.

Lesson learned for next time though.

This happened to me a few weeks ago at HMV.Unknown to me at the time i bought the dvd they had left the red tag on.It wasn't until i went into Borders bookshop & set the alarm off at the door did i know there was a problem.I had to go back to HMV & get them to remove it or every shop i went into i would have been setting off their alarm.

Why doesn't the security tag that has been left on not set off the alarm when you leave the store you have just purchased the item from?

I think with those tags, some of them have a dye in, which if you open them improperly, it ruins the DVD. I would have thought they would still set the alarm off though, especially if it sets off the ones for other shops

I had a similar experience with a dvd bought in HMV, when I went into a Music Zone store, the alarm went off. They very helpfully took it out for me, saving me a ten minute journey

I have had the same problem, we got hpathbp for my son for xmas so this morning we had fun trying to open the stupid thing. only to find that the tab goes under the disc. He was not happy. A great start to xmas.
