Disney Direct-2-DVD plot reversals for character's children.

Ever watch a Disney sequel? Ever notice how it's generally just taking a child of the original character and reversing their roles? For example, Ariel wanted to be human but her daughter Melody wanted to be a mermaid. Is there any real originality to sequels that do this sort of thing all the time?

Yeah, I've noticed it, but it's cheapqueals and nobody pays attention to them. Except for Simba's Pride, which people generally see as canon.

Another example would be Scamp from Scamp's Adventure (which actually wasn't too terrible imho), who wanted to be a street dog like his dad Tramp.

Don't know if it'd count as a "cheapquel" given the fact that it was one of the few Disney sequels that made it onto the big screen, but Return to Neverland had Jane already behaving like a grown-up thanks to WWII when she gets taken to Neverland as opposed to Wendy's wanting to remain a child forever.

Jungle Book 2 would be another exception, as its not so much a plot reversal but a continuation of Mowgli's story from the first movie. Because seriously, did anybody think that Mowgli would have an easy time adapting to life in the man village once he got there? That he wouldn't miss his old life in the jungle and want to go back, especially right away?

Probably the worst Disney direct-to-video sequel that I've ever seen would have to be The Lion King 1 1/2. Did the producers even bother to get a story written for the film? I bought the DVD so that I'd have all 3 films on DVD, and I watched it once and I've never bothered to put it on again, since there is no story to the film.

I think that it is a spoof of some movie where Hamlet's friends go back and tell Hamlet from their point of view. I don't know what that movie was called.
