Disney and Robert Zemeckis want to remake Yellow Submarine

please tell me that they just plan on making this a cgi movie and not a live action because if it's live action I am pretty disney would use the jonas brothers and that would be one of the worst insults that the beatles could have ever had happend if they make it a blend of cgi and live action they better use the original beatles music and not the jonas brothers singing the beatles songs I would hate that and I love disney.

Wha-??? WHY???

Jeez, Zemeckis, do a Roger Rabbit sequel if you want to resurrect something from the past! Why mess with Yellow Submarine? It's a great flawed mess of a fun fantasy film. Hollywood just floors me sometimes. Just floors me.

As far I know it will be using motion capture, like Beowulf, which means the Jonas Bros could be involved and I REALLY hope not.

Aw man, gimme a break! It's bad enough that Hollywood remake live-action movie after movie after movie these days but now they even have to do it with animated films?

judyindisguise, Zemeckis did actually talk about doing Roger Rabbit 2 a while back. To bad he's going for this isntead.

Especially since there's no reason whatsoever for either project to be made. Yellow Submarine and Who Framed Roger Rabbit? are both such timeless films that any sequel/remake of either is bound to be a disappointment.

What a terrible idea. The appeal of the original film was, first and foremost, its visual style. (Obviously the music too, but the visuals tie directly into that; it's kind of like a big string of music videos.) Remakes can be good when they interpret the story in a different way and/or a different medium, but here, the story is irrelevant. Plus, why do a motion capture movie about The Beatles if you are not going to motion capture The Beatles?

Abort. Abort. Please, someone, stop this from being made. I know the original will still exist, but the extorbitant amount of money spent on this waste of time could be put to much better use elsewhere. I mean, just skip it and go for the Broadway musical, which actually does make sense.

Hey, I don't know if anyone read the news but I just found out about it on Spill.com:

http://my.spill.com/profiles/blogs/zemeckis-to-remake-yellow

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Robert Zemeckis is negotiations to direct a remake of Yellow Submarine for Disney.

Yellow Submarine was a 1968 animated feature about a soldier called Old Fred who meets up with the Beatles and travels in a yellow submersible to Pepperland. Among the group's encounters are the Blue Meanies, music-hating creatures.

Disney had no comment on the deal, which is in the thick of trying to acquire the rights to the music to the film.

Like all Zemeckis productions, Yellow Submarine would be done in performance capture and would also be a digital 3D endeavor.
