dish options for aprtments

I know there was posting awhile back about install bell dish on a deck without attching the dish to the building. I think if was using an old milk crate and pressure treat wood or metal post. I was wondering if anyone had a picture of it that they could post a link here for me. I have family member who is in a building that does not want dishes attch to the building but he has a large deck that he can setup dish in the milk crate on.

Just use a 24" x 24" Patio Slab, I see dozens of these each week as installations on Flat roofs for Commercial Customers.

I would also add a piece of styrofoam under it too.
 
The solution is to create a base with a 1 5/8th inch metal pole sticking out of it. Also buy some flat RG-6 cables so that you can close the balcony door completely.

There is no nead for that height as shown in the first picture, even if the LNBF was level with the top of the balcony railing, it would be just fine. It could be even lower if it is moved back from the front too.

Many apartment dwellers will not get away with this setup as the dish would be visible.

heaven help you getting rid of this when you move out, at least with a patio stone it can be broken down easily.
 
Here's one previous thread found by searching for "concrete balcony". I would probably be able to find a different way to feed the cables into the apartment...

I also agree that there is no need for that height - move the dish further into the balcony and put it low enough that it's not seen from the street. This also helps with wind concerns. Thanks for the pictures though.

Yes that is indeed a problem that happens all too often.

I was asked to go to a Commercial Customers only last week, after a strong wind storm as they has lost their signal.

Turned out they had lost their Dish and so had 5 other Customers in the same strip mall. All the masts were still there on a wall in the centre of the roof but all Dish's and SW44's etc had been stolen.....
 
My case was that another tenant was moving out and decided it was much easier to take my dish instead of theirs. If they had bothered to connect my coax to their dish, I never would have even known. It was an easy fix for me to get signal back though.

Nope, Just Comcast Working Their Upgrade

A resident in the 300 block of West Hintz took off after a man that was in his backyard about 3:00 a.m. Monday. The resident thought the man had just stolen his satellite dish and thought “the offender” was fleeing eastbound on Hintz. He pursued the man, but soon police and the resident understood the man to be a Comcast contractor working on upgrading the lines in the neighborhood.
 
Arlington Heights Police get numerous calls almost every night for suspicious activity in backyards and along parkways. They respond to check out all calls, which often turn out to be Comcast contractors who are working during the midnight shift to minimize interruptions during daylight hours.
