Experts on terrorism have looked at the problem from many angles as they try to find the best means of dealing with the threat of terrorism. Are there aspects of the United States’ policy of containment from the days of the Cold War that could be useful in facing terrorism in the twenty-first century?

The Cold War strategy of containment does not seem to be effective against terrorism supporting nations, like Iran and N Korea, and terrorism supporting organizations like Al Qaeda and Hamas.

Detente and deterrence also do not work.

What other options are there to the escalation of military engagement?

Will it become necessary to preemptively attempt to diminish Iran's alleged nuclear WMD program?

Will even more sophiticated covert UAV systems be able to significantly diminish enemy personnel and resources?

We are currently not hearing much about combating terrorism from the 2008 Dem POTUS wannabees. But, if elected he or she will need to answer your questions and mine.

Bill Clinton regrets his major decision failures in not more proactively engaging terrorism. Let's hope that his intemperances will not be forgotten.
