Please review and make corrections to my essay, i would greatly appreciate any criticism.
I desire to become a Marine Corps Officer for a number of reasons, and serving my country is at the top of my list. Being a citizen of such a great nation, I believe there is an obligation to serve. Becoming a Marine Corps officer is a way that this obligation can be fulfilled. I believe that are military is the greatest asset to our country and is vital to the growth and development. Secondly, It is my belief that becoming a Marine Corps officer will be vital to me becoming a leader. While there are many leadership qualities you can pick up in the civilian world, there is no better way of becoming a leader than in the military. With lives potentially at stake, there is no room for error. Becoming a marine Corp officer, will allow my leadership abilities to be tested in a multitude of ways. Me already Being tested in my leadership abilities through Scouting and JROTC, I already posses many of the leadership traits of the marine Corp, becoming a Marine Corp officer I can fully believe and entrust myself with these core beliefs.
Finally, becoming a Marine Corp officer will allow me to challenge myself in more was than I can imagine both physically and mentally. While I strive to be the best that I can, I want to push myself further. Physically, the standards set by the Marine Corp will force me to keep myself as healthy as possible. Mentally, all the knowledge I will have gained in college will only be expounded on while serving in the Marine Corp.
In conclusion, Being part of the Marine Corps is like being adopted into a family. Me already being adopted into a family, I know first hand of what it means. You acquire the same values and ethics that the family posses. The marine corps is composed of values and ethics that one day I hope to posses by becoming part of “The few, the proud, The Marines” as an officer.
