"So, we find out that there is no life anywhere else in the universe, we find out we are alone. The theist says, you see we are truly special and made by a higher being. The atheist says, you see life is extremely hard to make, we are just an accident"

to me this says that no matter what we observe in the physical universe, people will always stubbornly hold their beliefs close to them.....

Opinions from any one
Squishy- you fail

We have found life in various rocks in our universe, therefore your analogy is incorrect.

Or did Satan put microbes in space?

EDIT- How do I fail? Because Astrobiology exists?

The existence or non-existence of life elsewhere in the Universe really is irrelevant to the question of the existence of god. So it's perfectly reasonable that no one's opinions would be changed.

It's an scientifically incorrect quote. There have been extraterrestrial microbes found, thus other life in the universe besides that which resides on planet earth.

Life is probably very common in the universe. Given the fact we've only been able to partly explore our own little solar system to claim that we're the only life that exists, or even for that matter, intelligent life, in the universe is foolhardy.

“It has been estimated that there are between 1 billion and 30 billion planets in our galaxy, and about 100 billion galaxies in the universe. Knocking a few noughts off for reasons of ordinary prudence, a billion billion is a conservative estimate of the number of available planets in the universe. Now, suppose the origin of life, the spontaneous arising of something equivalent to DNA, really was a staggeringly improbable event. Suppose it was so improbable as to occur on only one in a billion planets. [...] Even with such absurdly looking odds, life will still have arisen on a billion planets - of which Earth, of course, is one.” ~ "The God Delusion" by Prof. Richard Dawkins (2006)
