In 2000, business students of USQ formed the USQ Business Student's society. Membership of the society is open to all business students of the University. No fees payable for membership. The society is run by a committee comprising a President, Secretary, Treasurer and 5 other elected members. The society represents business students generally and organises a number of functions aimed at promoting their academic and social welfare. Over the years, the society has raised some revenue from various activities such as sales of tickets to dinners, balls and sports competition. In Sept 2005, while participating in one of the sports competition organised by the society 1 student was very seriously injured. That student has now sued the 2005 committee claiming that his injury resulted from negligent organisation and supervision of the games. As a result of the suit, the committee believes that the society should incorporate under the Associations Incorporation Act 1981 (Qld) .

They should have incorporated in the beginning. It seperates the company from personal. They may have to pay now but will be protected in the future.
