Discuss or too sensitive a subject?

It seems as though teachers fear discussing the subject of race do you not think that students should be able to discuss the topic in class or do you believe that it is too sensitive an issue for teachers to allow pupils to freely discuss. My experience is that whenever a student brings up the subject the teacher automatically changes the subject without addressing it.
 
That's interesting, I've never come across that. Although there are many other strange things like that in schools. They cannot teach you in too much detail about time travel because it is only a theory and many people argue against it.
 
If it is not discussed, how are people going to ever get educated on this topic. We either come from a place of fear or from a place of love. Not talking is a place of fear and this is very sad.
