I wasn't sure how to get this long answer/essay question started... I imagine I could discuss the 2nd class citizenship of African Americans and how that evolved during the reconstruction period with the Civil rights act, 13-15th amendments etc and that obviously relates to the state. I wasnt sure how exactly slavery tied into the relationship.
Anyone have any suggestions on what to write about other than pre-civil war period compared to post-civil war period?
