100% on ALL counts. The mess Carter made and Reagan inherited was far worse than what we have now. Reagan simply went to work and quietly but firmly turned it all around. (Unlike Obama who beats his chest every time he tries another dumb move) Under Carter we condemned the Russians for escalating and fighting the exact same people Obama is now escalating a war against in Afghanistan. We boycotted their (Moscow) Olympics - punishing our own athletes. Inflation was so high Mortgages went over 20% and gasoline was rationed and it's price doubled. (Like today's gas going from $2.50 to over $5.00) Middle eastern countries - notably Iran- took American citizens hostage just like Iran, North Korea, Afghanistan and Pakistan are doing under Obama today. Welcome back to the Carter scheme of diplomacy & economics.
