Discovery-Hasbro Network Now "The Hub"

So you say Ms. Loesch, but "actions speak louder than words". I can't speak for anyone else, but I've heard this claim (in some form or another) before, and even if "your" network does "deliver the goods", how we can we be sure that it will keep delivering the goods 10 or 20+ years from now. What makes your network so different from the all the other "once great" (family) networks [you know who you are] that have either become generic destinations for general entertainment (e.g., reality shows, third rate, unfunny sitcoms, etc), or provided an overabundance of one popular show.

With all this in mind however, I will give you and your network the benefit of the doubt given your previous track record (Marvel Productions, Hanna-Barbera, etc). Besides, I feel that said "once great" networks can become great again (if only they would change their attitude towards certain things, but I digress...). Still, in spite of everything, I truly hope that your network will not only deliver the goods, but will also be (one of) the best network(s) ever (not just in the spur of the moment, but also for years to come).

Incidentally, "The Hub"? I don't know, that sounds more like the name of a programming block than a (digital) cable TV channel, but hey, it could work...

Better then Discovery Kids, which always sounded like the Discovery Channel for Kids.

The Hub sounds like a multi-platform device for Hasbro(TV, Internet site, Toys, Video Games)

Here's the logo.

It's still pretty odd to me that Discovery Kids, which was pretty much an E/I network, partnered with Hasbro. I'm really curious to see what Hub's programming will be like.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I will say this. Until we hear otherwise, we should give this channel the benefit of the doubt, and assume that it won't be all E/I programs. Make no mistake though, the channel definitely have them. I understand they're working on a revival of Romper Room (now a Hasbro "property"), for instance. Also, some Discovery Kids holdovers will transfer to the new channel. I remember "Flight 29 Down" (essentially, an E/I, family version of "Lost") being announced for the channel.

Still, this might actually be the best thing for the network. Personally, I felt it was suffering the same fate as Nick GAS (kind of; it's hard to explain). What I mean is, the current Discovery Kids has good shows, but there hasn't been any real progress for quite some time. Anyway, I'm interested in seeing how this new "Hub" network turns out.

I guess this could be a rivalory to Boomerang, especially since it is just a rebranding of an already exciting cable channel oppose to a new channel just launched.

I think have Discovery Kids on my cable service, I got to check. Though this would be great to have with Funimation channel. I want the Funimation channel.

While this won't be for Animation only, according to this press release there will be animated shows here. Apparently this will be a new channel from Hasbro and the Discovery Channel. While I admit the latter companies' involvement does kind of surprise me this is an interesting turn of events. But still this should be interesting and while its not known what animated shows will appear other than shows based off of Hasbro's toylines. Who knows what this will turn to but if anything else at least there is a good chance that the next Transformers animated series most likely won't end up seemingly relegated at 6 AM in the morning. But still I must say that this idea does have some interesting potential...

Indeed. This is old news, in fact.

However, it looks like they have a website, now (although it's just a placeholder at the moment).

If the Hub has a Clash Of The Nicktoons type of block at some point. Would love to see Transformer or GI Joe character vs a My Little Pony character.
