Discovered My Plugs Were Gapped. 45?

What did u use to gap the plugs? There is a lot of cheap gapping tools that are not accurate. I use a machinst feeler gauge and check it with a micrometer.Maybe a little overboard but it works for me. You get what you pay for.
 
Update....

I realized the guage I was using was crap after using actual feeler guages to verify it. My stock plugs were .43 not .45 and the ones I replaced them with I gapped at .40

I e mailed the guy who dynod my bike and he said the same thing you are all saying that going from .45 to .40 isnt going to be that big of a deal. Now that I realized its .43 (which is within normal range) and .40 Its even less of a deal.

During my ASE certification training I was always told to gap plugs with a "wire" gauge not the flat metal ones. Which type are gapping your plugs with?
 
The widest gap you can get away with will give the best burn but as the gap increases due to erosion the chances of spark blow out at high rpm also increases. This is why they have recommendations for spark plug gap.
 
Maybe the fuel moto guy will answer. Here is my guess. I don't thing it will make any difference at all. The new electronic ignitions put out a very high voltage that will jump the gap without hesitation. In the 50's and 60's with leaded fuel and low voltage coils it was a significant issue.
