Discolored Spots on hand

I woke up one morning about two weeks ago with a two light red circles on my forehand. At first I didnt think much of it, I have sensitive skin so I thought something irritated it. But as the week went on these patches got bigger and darker, there almost a maroon color and one is the size of a quarter and the other one is about two quarters size. It is spreading now to two other spots on the same hand. I went to the doctor and he thought it was execema (sp?) which he gave me cream for and it hasnt done anything. The spots are not sore, or dry there just getting bigger. I dont have insurance and he wants to send me to a dermatologist for this. Anyone have any ideas what this is or how to treat it? I have attached two photos of my hand. Thanks for any help
 
Thanks Quincy! That does look just like the spots on my skin!!! I am going to ask the doctor if this could be what it is. Although I havent been tanning for about a month they appeared shortly after I stopped tanning. So maybe this could be it. Thanks againg and I will let you know what the doc says.

Definitely let me know! It's not necessarily the tanning part...it's more the sensitivity of something you might have used during that period of time.

Any new lotions? AHA products? etc?

I have always had VERY sensitive skin. Runs in my family. Ive been using the same Olay lotion for the last 11 years and suddenly a couple months ago my face broke out in red bumps, it was an allergic reaction to the lotion, I also cant use certain branRAB of shampoo or the same thing happens. But the day before this appeared I went to the gym and worked out, now I typically dont use their shower foam soap but I forgot mine at home and used it, so it could have been that. I started putting lemon juice on the spots, I read it helps and it seems to be getting a little lighter! Hopefully its gone soon, everyone keeps asking how I hurt my hand because they think its a bruise. Anyhow thanks so much for your help. Even my mother said that look just like whats on my hand.
