I just wanted to share my story since I learned so much from this board and it helped me prepare for my surgery. On May 28, 2010 I had a discectomy on L4/L5 and I was home on May 29. On June 2 I was grocery shopping (or I should say pushing a cart telling my husband what we needed LOL) I am going back for my two week post-op on Wednesday and I feel great. It is so nice to lay down at night and not feel that shooting pain down my leg. Behind my hips do not hurt at all anymore. I have some slight pain at the incision site and some pulling if I do to much in my back but other than that I feel great.
I have to say the garbage bag idea was a life saver. I had my surgery in a hospital an hour away and by the time I got home it would have really stunk if I couldn't just slide around like I was able to with the bag under me. Thank you very much for that as I would have never thought of that on my own.
