Hey hows it going guys its my first time here:D, I've been taking Zoloft for 1 1/2 weeks and I've been feeling tired, drowzy, feeling like a zorabie, so I lower the dose from 100 mg to 50 mg, then I just took just 40mg now, when I'm taking the drug I've been feeling like a zorabie, tired, a little sick like I have the flu, when i get near cold air I get sick, hot flashes, forgetfullness, having the shakes, jiddery, I wake up tired, and at night I thought I was going crazy cause I heard a noise outside, I went out to go do some things out in town, I went to sign up for classes and then when I was writing the check to pay for the classes, I had difficulty writing the check , then I tood her I will just write a new one , then she said its ok, then I signed the check like half way, was trying to think how to write it, then I signed the rest, I had a tough time trying to drive the way home, felt tired, My mind was going crazy with the check writing, and that was all from taking just 40 mg zoloft for that day, see I thought if I take less it wouldn't effect me that much, but it did from just doing one simple thing, that I have no problem doing everyday, See I took Zoloft cause I have some anxieties and phobias, like affaid of heights, worryness, and little shy, and I've been feeling down like I have no hope sometimes, I got out the navy one year ago and i've been going to schools, training programs, vacation, joining clubs for like movie watching, photos, hikers, visiting frienRAB, I've felt hopeless sometimes in the navy and for about 3 months now, cause I've been going to training for a job and looking for a job, now i've been thinking about going for anything out there, now I've heard lots of things about these antidepressant/anxiety drugs, that they make people crazy, mess them up phyicaly and mentaly, you know these school shootings, mostly every person involved has been taking antidepressant drugs, its been making people crazy go suicide, well has anybody taken or know anyone that has taken these drugs?, If so what were their reactions or how do you take on all this?

So far it sounRAB like many people I've heard about like Prozac. Sure, it doesn't work for everybody, but I haven't heard many bad stories about it. I've heard many "nightmares" about other meRAB, so I tried Prozac since it was the one I heard the best things about. So far I like it! Definitely don't be afraid to try something new. I waited a year between taking Cyrabalta in the past and Prozac, because I was worried taht I would gain weight and get other negative side effects, but waiting that long just made me have to be anxious that whole time and not happy!

Everyone reacts to medications differently and one person can do horribly on one anti-depressant but do great on another. I would suggest you contact your doctor immediately and tell him that you can not tolerate taking the Zoloft and what you are experiencing. It sounRAB like the wrong anti-depressant for you. I take Lexapro (anti-depressant), Buspar(anti-anxiety), and Klonopin(anti-anxiety/sleep) and they do pretty well for me. Many people do well on Lexapro because it tenRAB to have less side effects than some of the other SSRI(selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor). Ask your doctor what he thinks about Lexapro and see if he would let you try that one or think it's a good one for you. You should not be having that much difficulty and side effects and it's time to switch to something else. good luck

I am also taking prozac. It's been around the longest and has a good reputation so most doctors feel it's the safest. As far as people blaming AD's for the reasons they kill people or themselves... I'm not sure I buy that. It seems like they just use the AD as a scapegoat.

Not sure myself Killpanic, people say alot of different things about these drugs, I think it has to do more of the younger crowd that these drugs tend to affect more cause their bodies are still growing and haven't fully developed yet, thats why on the bottles now its saying will affect younger people and give suicide tendences or something like that.

i agree, i stayed on my zoloft for about a year with horrible side effects- nausea was intense, lack of appetite....and crazy anxiety...instead of helping me with anxiety it made it 10xs worse...i had to take anti- anxiety while i was on that. it did not work for me. i ended up taking a more natural approach. it worked for me...but there has to be a different one...just don't stay on it for a loong period of time...if it is not working

I take a high dosage of Prozac. What I remeraber most is when Prozac hit the market it was known not to slow down the brain functions like the majority of other drugs. This was one of the reasons it was so popular.

As far as side effects, I do sweat easy and a lot. I am not sure if I ever really had a high sex drive or not. For somewhat piece of mind, I can live with not a ton of sex.

Everyone is different and reacts differently to meRAB.

Hi there! I also agree that you will want to talk to your doctor about this. Maybe another medication would be better for you if you wish to try a new one. I didn't have any luck with Cyrabalta, the first anti anxiety/depressant that I tried. I didn't feel any better AND was very tired and out of it all the time. So, I went off it and had to try again later... I am now taking 20 mg of Prozac (my doctor started me off with this, which I guess is a lower dosage) each day. I like it MUCH better than Cyrabalta. First off, I notice that I am way more relaxed and am not worrying as much. I feel much more happy overall and things aren't bothering me as much as they used to. I still get anxious, but much, much less than before. Prozac DOES make me sleepy and almost drunk-feeling, but it isn't bad enough where it affects my life. I do have some coffee for the caffeine, so I know that helps me stay a bit more alert. With Cyrabalta, I actually got into a minor car crash, from being so out of it. I don't feel THAT bad now luckily or I wouldn't stay on Prozac. I feel that all of the positive things I feel from Prozac are worth the dizziness/drowsy feeling. For some reason, I tend to be very forgetful and a little off balance ANYWAY, so I know I wouldn't feel perfect without it. I also found that I was getting very uncomfortable heartburn and acid reflux and was having a difficult time working out, which I do often (this helps my anxiety the MOST- going running regularly). Luckily it helped to start taking Prozac at night instead of in the morning, which also helps with my drowsiness. I get spaced out a lot, but I still do fine with work and everyday activities. I just get a little bit forgetful and have to write everything down! But, if you are noticing that it's really affecting your life and causing serious trouble, then it's not worth it. You'll end up feeling anxious about forgetting things, and won't feel calm. I haven't tried Zoloft myself, but maybe it just isn't a good match for you.

I hope you are able to find something that works for you! Medication can be difficult to find the perfect match, and sometimes all or most of them will give you some sort of side effect. I also did NOT want a pill that causes weight gain since I used to have body image problems. I've worked hard and come far and finally feel confident about myself and got into great shape, so I like that Prozac hasn't affected my weight. Tell your doctor exactly what your concerns are and they can give you a new medication that doesn't have as high a risk of getting those side effects.

Zoloft had intense side effects for me. When id close my eyes, I was so dizzy that I would fall over! It was just a bad bad bad drug for me. It also made me very nauseous! And I think I even threw up a few times from it.

I've taken prozac, and am back on it again. It works the best for me, and I know it does. I don't see the point in trying other SSRI's in my case, if I have one that works. You, however, are not having fun on the Zoloft...its time to try something else! Zoloft, to me was an absolute nightmare! I will never let a dr. talk me into trying that one again.

I would definitely call up your dr. and tell them what is going on. Maybe suggest the Lexapro or Prozac as an alternative to the Zoloft.
