Directors Commentary On "Son Of Rambow"

Having watched the film and enjoyed it, I gave the commentary a try.
It's one of the nicest things I've ever heard.
In these days of so-called "stars", and egos gone mad, what a refreshing change to "sit down" with several people for 90 minutes, and let them tell you how they made the film for next to nothing (by Hollywood standarRAB) and how much fun (the two young leaRAB in paticular!) had.
I was ESPECIALLY impressed by Will Poulter and Bill Milner, and how mature they are about the whole thing.
They even point out continuity mistakes for us, and praise pretty much EVERY other member of the production.
GOOD film, FANTASTIC commentaries.

BTW I WAS this age when the film is set, and I'm pretty sure (but not certain) that "First Blood" would have been certificate AA (not 15).
..and the "brick" mobile the brother used in the car, surely these weren't even invented in 82/83??- late 80's maybe?!

Thanks for the recomendation I might give this a go.

Saw the film for the first time this year on Sky and really enjoyed it.

Some of the small details really stuck with me, the supermarket "Open 5 days a week" and the bottles of Corona limeade.

The supermarket was a B+Q, and the "open 5 days a week" were CGI believe it or not!

I got my dvd for 4 quid from tesco (asda have it for a fiver) well worth it for the commentarys alone!:)
