Dipstick shows too much oil (about 1 cm above full limit ) in my 91' Toyota Previa. I do have an oil leak so add some oil into the reservoir tank under the hood (always a little bit below full level) once a while. And I've never add any directly into the engine tank (the one under passenger seat).
I was wondering maybe during this heavy rains that we had here in California about two weeks ago some water got into the oil? Is it possible? (Car died on me in the flooded street but It worked fine the next day, engine sounds good). But even if any water got in there shouldn't it just evaporate?
If it helps I had my engine head and gasket changed recently. Coolant doesn't leak anymore. Engine doesn't overheat.

While I was driving through this flood and right before my engine started loosing it's power I felt intense smell of gas inside the cabin.
Oil has a dark brown color - thought it's normal for 20 year old car.
And yes - I can smell gas in the oil now.
I will definitely change my oil tomorrow morning. But did I damaged my engine already? I didn't know that I have gas in my oil until now and I drove it like 500 miles since my engine got flooded.
