Dinobot Inducted into Transformers Hall of Fame

So a couple of months ago, Hasbro had set up a "Transformers" Hall of Fame. Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee, and Starscream were already in, and fans were allowed to vote for the fifth member.

The poll came down to Soundwave, Jazz, Shockwave, and Grimlock all from G1; and Dinobot from "Beast Wars."

Guess who won.

No, it was not the "tape player guy." Even if he was the shoe-in.

Dinobot from "Beast Wars" won. The underdog won.

I couldn't be happier, Dinobot had a well done character arc and actual development. Soundwave, who many considered a shoe-in... all he had was a cool voice and a gimmick. Nothing else.

Dave Willis from Shortpacked broke the news here, and even received and posted an e-mail from Bob Forward, story editor of "Beast Wars."

He lived a warrior... and died a hero. Let his spark join the Matrix, the greatest of Cybertron.

Yeah, it's great that the fans could go for quality over nostalgia.

That's pretty cool. I always loved Dinobot and he was my favorite character on the show. He was definitely one of the reasons I initially stuck with the show after it began airing regularly.

Awesome. I voted for him every chance I got and I'm glad he won.

He is one of the best characters Transformers ever produced and it's shocking that the fandom actually put him ahead of Soundwave.

Sometimes good things actually do happen.

I wish I knew about this I would have voted for Dinobot a million times but oh well he won anyway. For once nostalgia didn't rule out and the better character won. I love Dinobot he is by far my favorite Transformer of all time he deserves to be in any hall of fame. Congratulations chopper face the victory is yours.

Dinobot probably was the best character in that cartoon. He deserved it. A renegade, an antihero, and eventually a true hero via his sacrifice. His development was something.

Let's see, how'd that one exchange in Code of Hero go.....

Quickstrike: "So tell me, what's a warrior without weapons?"
Dinobot: "A warrior still!"

Yeah. That's awesome. That's heroic resolve.

I'm not as enthused about how they (sort of) brought him back as a Transmetal later, but that's a quip. The original deserves it.

All the Transformers in the first post probably deserve to be in the Hall of Fame eventually, but Dinobot deserved it the most at this time. He is one of the few Transformers that actually changed from being evil to good. He died one of the most heroic deaths in the history of the series. Even when Megatron brought him back and corrupted his spark he still had enough memories to where he turned against Megatron in the end. I would have thought Optimus Prime and Megatron would be shoe-ins due to them being in every series. Bumblebee has always been a fan favorite, and Starscream has been the most devious Tranformer in the history of the series. Still out of all of them only Optimus has died a more heroic death. I'm actually surprised that Galvatron hasn't been shoed in yet, and I can't help but wonder if they are going to just lump every Optmius and Megatron together (including the Primal versions).

This is awesome news.

On a related note, the recent Henkei Dinobot figure that came out a few years ago is awesome. I'm glad to have Dinobot immortalized appropriately in plastic.
