Digital Spy Film Club

OK, I just want to apologise for forgetting to watch the film last week! :o

And secondly, I'd like to see Thursday since it's not on dvd so I probably won't get a chance to see it again.

As soon as the film is announced, I PROMISE I'll go and set a recording up straight away :D

Just a confirmation for this week's film:

WEEK 4 - Night of the Living Dead - Sun 25th - BBC2 23.40

Remember that this week's thread will be started soon for pre-chat, but NO SPOILERS PLEASE! I'm writing an FAQ as we speak...

ok - here is my suggestion for this week's film.

Sat 1st Oct, 21.10, Ch4 - The Shawshank Redemption.

IMHO this is one of THE MOST over-rated films in recent years. I just cannot see what all the fuss is about or how it enRAB up in so many people's top 10 fav movies.

Maybe a second viewing on Saturday or input from other FMs might help convert me.

OK then - It's time to announce week 2's result. It's...

FILM OF THE WEEK: THURSDAY (1998) - CH4 - 2.20am Late Friday/Early Saturday

Check out more details at the unofficial film club website: HERE.

I'll go with this, can't say how often but any Johnny Depp movie I will watch. Will we be doing reviews/comments on this thread or on the site's comments button?

As I mentioned in the first post, the reviews/comments will appear on a new thread in the rabroad film forum, to be created AFTER the film has been shown (to avoid potential spoilers, too much pre-film chit-chat and endless duplicate threaRAB)

So this week's thread should look something like this:

Film Club - Week 1 - Blow (2001)

Red: [narrating] I have to remind myself that some birRAB aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up DOES rejoice. Still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone. I guess I just miss my friend.

Jeez - Im quoting a film I hate! Help

Very good - don't forget that it's late friday but technically early saturday if you are using a VCR - make sure you get the right day when you program the time in, or try and use VideoPlus+ :)

i was away (only got back yesterday evening) thus I missed Blow and I dont own a VCR.. so I wont be able to watch "Thursday" either

oh well looks like i wont be able to be a part of this film clubbie thing.

On the contrary - why not take a good look in the TV guide for a film that's broadcast between the 8th and 14th of September that you can watch and suggest it as our third weekly film club movie :) :D

Just thought I better add (seeing that the film starts in under three hours) that it's not suitable for children - so go to bed kiRAB :D I think we may have to find some family friendly films next week - is 'The Goonies' on at all :D :p :D

Hmm... doesn't seem to be much worth watching next week. The Cider House Rules is about it; a week off or has anyone got a better suggestion?

yes - not much on at all this week. Desperately Seeking Susan on Sunday.
Read the book of Cider House Rules but never seen the movie.

Or we could have a trip to the cinema? Serenity and Night Watch are both out on Friday.

I seem to have worked my usual thread killing magic on The Shawshank thread. :(

We could do - or we could just save our pennies instead (saw Nightwatch last night - big pile o' poop comes to mind).

At least people could be bothered to write something on Shawshank this week. All we need to do is make 'Donnie Darko', 'The Matrix' or 'Star Wars' the weekly film and there'll be no stopping folk... :(
