Digimon thread

So, I saw a Pokemon thread here and decided to start a Digimon thread. I doubt it will be that popular of a thread though, I don't know a lot of people who like Digimon. So, in this thread you can talk about whatever you want, as long as it's digimon-related. I'll start off with: what's your favorite digimon? Mine would have to be Wizardmon.

Hmm. Back when I saw it for the first time, I actually didn't like Tamers due to the whole down tone in the later episodes. But after looking back and rewatching some episodes, I'll also agree with everyone that it was the best of the seasons.

However, I haven't seen Data Squad/Savers.

Granted I havent seen Tamers in a couple of years so i do not recall its awesomeness but I would agree with you there. The moment Leomon died and Jeri became a former shell of herself, the the rest of the series was painful to watch, but painful in the most enjoyable of ways if that makes any sense.

I agree. I do understand and respect why people would prefer the original Japanese version subbed for Digimon. However, considering that Digimon hasn't really had a decent DVD release until Data Squad, I would be quite happy with just a dub DVD release for all five series. Of course, it probably helps that I generally prefer to watch dubs over subs with not too many exceptions.

Anyway, I can't believe that it's been ten years since Digimon first aired on Fox KiRAB. That's great. I still remeraber back when they had an afternoon block and I would occasionally be able to watch Digimon if I didn't have to go to school. That was ten years ago. Wow. That really makes me feel weird. I wouldn't say that I feel old after reading that, but it's just weird to see how much time has passed. At one point, ten years feels like a lifetime ago but at the same time, it doesn't feel like it was that long ago. That's why it feels kind of weird to me.

Still, it's also kind of cool to see how long Digimon has been here in the U.S., to reflect on how each series is different after being here for a decade and how I've changed in these past ten years too.

It's only human nature. He was scared of them so, he felt that the only good thing to do would be to eliminate them. Basically, his fear drove him insane though, he felt that he was doing the correct thing.

Hard to be believe it'll be ten years this August when the anime first aired in America. Kind of makes me wish we had another season to make up for that abomination that was Savers/Data Squad.

I don't really care about the series like I used to, but it's still annoying that the only R1 DVD's lack original Japanese audio - just reflects how it was made back in the days where Japanese cultural references were eeeevil, and for Savers, when they haaaave to censor aaaannnyyttthhhhiiiiing that could be viewed as offensive (Citramon, anyone?).

And looking over the dub, and comparing it to the Japanese - honestly, back when it first came out, I didn't notice how horribly dubbed it was, and all the idiotic Americanization jokes that were put in.

On villains- I always saw it that 01 was just full of opportunistic warlorRAB. It seemed every time the kiRAB finally won- SUPRISE! There's someone even worse waiting. It seemed silly to me after the big deal they made over Myotismon though at least 'They took the initative whilst he was away' made sense.

It was on a Disney controlled channel aimed at kiRAB. Having a giant borab show up at a amusement park just may consider "too soon".

(although, I do recall some old Disney cartoons in which the villians did threaten people with borabs. Double Standard?)

Horribly dubbed? Except for the first 7 episodes, the Dub of Digimon was fine. Ok, so they added jokes, but considering Saban's history, it comes off as to no surprise.

And even those bad jokes turned out to be so bad it's good.

Oh Come on, Savers wasn`t that bad.

Usually, digimon has great charachter development(what the series is known for), but not THAT much in savers, but I'd like to think the plot makes up for some of that. It introduced a lot of concepts that we've always wanted to see in digimon, such as evil tamers, and a truly evil human villain.

I don`t think any series will ever be able to match 01's herculean feat of giving eight main charachters complete and fulfilling charachter arcs in 54 episodes though.
