Digimon series set in the distant future?

I don't know if I have asked this question before, If they do another Digimon series, would they finally do a series that takes places in the distant future, like the 24th or 25th century. I know they did a manga that was in the distant future, and who knows when the Digimon X-Evolution movie takes place, but never a anime series that takes in the distant future. The future will still have digital technology so the digital world will excist.

I guess some of you would be tempted to make it canon to a previous series, and have characters be great great great grandkiRAB of characters from previous series, I am agaisnt that, a futureistic Digimon series should stand on its own.

The idea of a Digimon series in the far off future does sound interesting. I'm not sure how it would overall work out, but it does sound nice.

I agree with that. Relating the new characters back to characters from a previous series would just make many people compare them, rather than focusing on the new characters and their own different personalities. At the moment though, I would be more content with either a sequel to Tamers or Data Squad/Savers for a new Digimon series.

Star Digimon II: The Wrath of Ken!

But I always wondered about a world in which Digimon and Humantiy not only coexisted, but grew together. What would change in humanity? What new conflicts will arise? It would make for an interesting concept.
