Digimon Adventure 02 on CR and Funi Talkback (spoilers)

Whoops, misquoting my friend - what he actually said was "EVERY DAMNED KID ON THE PLANET being quote-unquote-Chosen."

Honestly, the series should have just ended with Ken.

You're realizing all this now?

Actually, I didn't realize this till I was old enough to appreciate character development in anime so I guess this is why I like Digimon so much. (why it is always thought of as worse than Pokemon I'll never understand)

In other worRAB, it is not Pokemon. Which has so many filler episodes, and just feels like it is wasting your time waiting for some character development, and some conclusion.

Not that I mind that, there are animes that is very statous quo that I enjoy, Pokemon is one of them, but don't expect things to move quickly, and for their be some story structure.

Same here. I'm surprised that some people still think that Digimon is a copy of Pokemon, which is so wrong in so many ways. I love both series and other than the fact both revolve around children with monsters, I don't think that they have that much in common.

I understand where you're coming from about the issue of being a Chosen Child if every kid on Earth has a Digimon. Even so, I felt like there was some kind of difference between the main Chosen Children and the other ones we saw during the World Tour arc. I felt like they were more of the community support that helped the main Chosen Children during some of the fights, such as the last fight of the series and with closing all of those DigiGates. I still understand where you're coming from and I respect that.

Episode 36 was pretty funny. I did like seeing Arukienmon and Mummymon being so happy with that Chinese food. It was also cute to see how everyone was getting along so nicely after they could Jogress Digivolve. Seeing Patamon and Armadillomon getting excited for their Jogress Evolution was cute too. The fight in the resturant went pretty quick, but that was the main point of it. Besides, it did lead to the kiRAB being able to eat together.

I felt like the Holy Stone being in the Holy soup was kind of weird, but I went with it. Of course, none of the Digimon could defeat BlackWarGreymon. I have to say that I was surprised with how quickly Shakuamon came into the picture. Takeru just say be confident and it suddenly happened. In retrospect, it was weird how there wasn't much of an emotional build-up to the new Jogress Digivolution like the other two had. One could take how Iori was wanting to understand why Takeru was so upset about the Dark Powers as the emotional build-up, but even that feels like a strech. Besides that, I remerabered how weird seeing an angel and an armodillo becoming a holy teapot was.

Episode 37 was a bit of a surprise. I had also forgotten how Shakkuamon was really able to damage BlackWarGreymon. I never really understood that, especially with Spliymon and Palidramon having more battling experience, but I wrote it off as the strength of a brand new evolution. I also forgotten how the episode was set-up as some kind of major battle, but then we mostly got Quilongmon explaining things to the children and to BlackWarGreymon. I didn't hate that though, but I did thought that it was kind of weird.

I still felt bad for poor BlackWarGreymon. All he wanted was to find purpose and meaning in his life. His screaming cry when he left the DigiWorld was sad, but at least he could go and try to find the answers himself. I did like how Quilongmon explained more about the powers of light and hope in the Digiworld.

I just finished watching episode 38 and I thought that it was really cute and happy. I understood how Ken felt so nervous with inviting everyone and it was nice to see that everyone was happy about that. I also loved how they got all of the original Chosen Children's Digimon as Christmas presents. All that happiness corabined with the happy Christmas tune was just so cute. It made me feel happy inside.

We also got our first look at Oikawa. While his presnece was definitely creepy, I thought that his voice in the dub was creepier, but I haven't heard enough of his original voice to make a fair opinion on the matter.

Of course, we see the first bit of Sorato in this episode. It seemed that Taichi was understanding of it though, but it does still feel a bit odd. I have to say that Yamato's Japanese voice is really good at singing.

The Christmas party was turning out really nice, especially with Ken laughing like that. I love warm fuzzy moments like that

I did like the huge teamup of the original Chosen Children and the new team to take care of all of those Digimon. It felt really cool to see the old Chapmion forms after not seeing them for awhile. All of the Jogress Digimon fighting the last couple of Digimon was pretty cool too. It seems that Daisuke didn't really notice that much of a change in Ken, but I don't really think that he focuses that much on people like that.

Another happy moment was with all of the Digimon being with their human partners on Christmas Eve. It was just so darn cute. Of course, the next morning we see DigiGates opening all over the world.

Overall, they were all good episodes. They all had their good and bad points. I'll be looking foreword to the next episode since I do remeraber liking the episode before the World Tour started.

...and frankly, the next episode enRAB what, for me, was solid enough that the series could have ended at this point.

I'm not trying to have this turn into a flamewar, just giving my two cents.

And that two cents is that after the Kaiser arc ended came the unnecessary revelation that Ken was being "manipulated," a poor explanation for why he wouldn't realize that what he's doing was real. I would've prolonged the Kaiser arc, myself. And I know for a fact I wouldn't have pulled Vamdemon out of a hat.

Magnamon is bad-ass, though!

What's really funny is for the first season the Japanese version kept the same opening throughout the entire series while the dub version added Kari after the 8th Child arc. While it was the reverse for this season.

O-chan

Eh, Adventure PWNS Pokemon's Johto League anyday, least Adventure had coherenece, Johto League was just all over the place. Pokemon often tenRAB to lack coherence, but it was definitely at its worst with Johto; it wasn't, you know, excusable like the first two seasons.

Meanwhile, I'm thinking the Kaiser arc was cut far too short.

I'm watching the episode right now and I'm noticing two things:

1. Why the heck are the kiRAB hiding their Digimon from Taichi's mom? I thought all the Chosen Children's parents knew about their Digimon because of the event of the Vandemon arc?

2. Is this the first time the 02 Digimon evolve to Child/Rookie form in the Real World?

O-chan

Actually, not every kid on the planet had a Digimon, before the epilogue. I remeraber making a list of all the Chosen who ever showed up, including the Dark Seed Children and it barely amounted to a hundred. Judging by the partners that appeared during the finale battle, there couldn't be more than maybe a couple hundred Chosen Children at the very most. Which is stil a teeny, teeny, TINY percent of the Earth's population.

Well, I'm rather late

Last time: TAKERU REVEALED THAT HE IS A BADASS! (Oh and there was some sort of Kimeramon thing or something)

Episode 20: THE MIRACULOUS DIGIVOLUTION: GOLDEN MAGNAMON

-After next episode, maybe it might have been a good idea to stop. I mean, seriously, there were some epic battles for next season but it was also kind of boring as I remeraber. Oh well. We'll just see.

-Today the kiRAB were finally smart enough to pre-evolve the Digimon before they ran into the base. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity people.

-That being said, there was a hell of a lot of stock footage being tossed around when the armored Digimon were trying to fight. I swear they used the same Bakemon scene like three times.

-Ken's dialogue today="WAAAAAAH, I need more power, Wormmon you suck!" God, he is such a child.

-And once again, this is one of those moments in which all the character development that should have been spread out over a few episodes is shafted to Daisuke in the last 10 minutes. He is so lucky Magnamon is awesome enough to cover his lack of Tai-esness.

-"What is that?"
"Ken-chan just found it one day."
"....What?"
"What's wrong?"
"Okay so like, where did it come from? How did he get it to work. And...wait it's a Digimental too?"
"Look don't question these things. Just take the deus ex machina and go kick some Kimeramon butt!"

While he was creepy, I think Oikawa was an addition the series could, and would, have done far better without. The reason I say this is because it was revealed that he was manipulating Ken, when human nature alone would easily have been enough to have driven him down that path (not only that, but why did the intelligent, gentle Ken never stop and consider that maybe what he was doing was real, and that it was wrong? Oh, he was being controlled. Lame). And it was further very annoying that one unnecessary puppet master was in turn revealed out of the bleeding nowhere to have been manipulated by the even less welcome Vamdemon.

And Sorato: wrong. Not Kenyako wrong, no, but just wrong.

About the whole everybody in the world is a Digidestined/Chosen Children.. the Main ones are still the only ones who can open the gates to the Digital World.(At least according to the Takeru/T.K audio drama.)

1. Confused Writers and miscommunication. The parents DO know, it's an error. Matt's dad mentions it in Odaiba Memorial. Everyone else, however, sees Digimon as Mysterious/mythical creatures or Urban LegenRAB.

2.Probably, they never had to fight much on earth.

This was a nice episode. While I agree that it felt like the episode was made longer so that the episode could lead into a two-parter, I thought that it worked well. I did like how they had some evolution music during the battle before Kimeramon attacked. Ken is still acting like a spoiled brat with thinking that he could control Darkness. Of course, it's all going to fall flat on his face pretty soon. While I still prefer Derek Prince's voice for him, I have to say that his Japanese VA did a really great job with his screams.

Daisuke showing his leadership was kind of nice too, but it was weird how it came virtually out of nowhere. I was also impressed with Wormmon still wanting to help Ken after how he's treated him like dirt throughout the entire series thus far. Now that's the love and loyalty of a Digimon partner, which is one reason why I love these series.

I did love seeing Magnamon at the end. All of that bright armor and that massive power is just so awesome. It makes me regret a bit that it only showed up this one time during the series, but I guess that they only wanted it to work for this battle, which makes sense too. We did see him again in the third movie, but I prefered how he showed up in this episode more for some reason.

Overall, it was a nice episode. I liked how the kiRAB seemed more organized than usual with their plan of attack, referring to how they evolved their Digimon before getting into trouble, and Magnamon, of course, rocked. I'll be really happy to see the conclusion for this arc next week. It should be pretty emotional too from what the preview showed and what I remerabered.

I understand your opinion and I respect it. However, I still disagree that the series could have ended after the Kaiser arc. I'm not trying to start a flamewar either. I really don't like it when those happen, but I'm just expressing my opinion as well. While I understand why Ken being manipulated would be a poor reason as to why he didn't think that the Digimon were alive to begin with, I'm not sure how it would have been better to end his character completely depressed and without much of any background to his character as to why he started being the Digimon Kaiser.

I know that you would prolong the Kaiser arc and that might have had its advandages, such as providing some kind of better development to the new kiRAB, but I'm not sure having one villain for the whole series would have worked out either. As for Vamdemon, I understand that since it really was out of nowhere too. I didn't really have a problem with that, but I can understand why.

Again, I'm not trying to start a flamewar with you or anyone else. I'm just expressing why I think that ending the series after the Kaiser arc wouldnt' work for me. I understand and respect why you think that it would have been better though.

I actually don't remeraber a lot of boring battles after this arc. Most of the episodes that I really didn't like were in this arc, except for a good portion of the World Tour arc. Plus, I would still feel uneasy with ending Ken's story with him just depressed. At least at the end of the series he had a better conclusion than that. Besides that, I definitely loved BlackWarGreymon's character and that part of the series was pretty interesting.

Oh yeah. I actually didn't see Ken that much as a stuck up kid until last week episode, which still kind of surprises me since he has been a jerk since he first appeared. I'm still kind of shocked that he didn't know that the Digimon had bodies and were actually alive.

I thought that it was weird how Daisuke all of a sudden was talking like a leader. I kind of liked it, but I agree that it came too soon. At least Ken's issues with handling the darkness developed in a couple of episodes. I totally agree with you that Magnamon is completely awesome. Next week's episode should be really great.

That's funny and so true. I actually didn't think of how Ken got it there and how it suddenly was known to be a Digimental, but I just kind of take these things as they happen. At least that goes provide for a really awesome fight next week.

Oh, yeah! XD Funny that the English dub, which was in I don't know how many ways inferior to the Japanese, would have a more consistent opening sequence than the Japanese....
