Digimon Adventure 02 on CR and Funi Talkback (spoilers)

All of 02's charachter development went to Ken, who was by far 02's best charachter. Dai, Iori, and Miyako's backstories and problems were barely touched upon. 01 gave every charachter personal insights and epiphanies, which was awesome.

The second half definately has its moments, quite alot really. However, most people hoped the story would be more...coherent between tossing Daemon and (barely) Dagomon, and of course the fact Vamdemon being revealed to behind everything, the second half is a mixed bag.

While I would personally would love a different ending and keep both halves of the season, most people are just saying the story ending here with the Kaiser's fall and the beginning of Ken's redemption is a rather good place if the writers wanted to end it sooner.

....think of the second half of 02 like the third season of Heroes. Its a mixed bag....excpet 02 is more hit than miss rather than an even 50/50, so its perhaps its not the best analogy

I think they were left out of this episode due to the drama that takes place next episode.

And for me when it came to the ending, sure the couples and weird conclusion was one thing but here was my main issue...
"I want to cook noodles" BOOM HEARABHOT!

I guess Yamato is just lousy at coming up with good excuses to ditch girls without hurting their feelings then again this IS Jun we're talking about and it seems she wasn't all that traumatized by this mean trick.

And in her way she was being rude, imposing herself like that on her brother's camping trip and all.

Probably your connection but I have noticed that if I press pause for longer than a minute, it won't play and I have to refresh

(Which wouldn't be so bad but I have to sit through that damn Naruto preview each time)

....

Yeah, well, not to have this turn into a massive argument thread, but my views on episode 15:

VERY BAD

I'm sorry, but really, that was some of the worst filler I've seen in the series. It bored the heck out of me (of course, so did 75% of 02), and felt rather pointless. Pretty much THE only redeeming factor was Shurimon getting a better appearance than the previous episode.... >.

Yeah this episode was about the newbies going on an adventures without Takeru and Hikari, and gave them a chance to have more of the spotlight. Let's face it, Takeru and Hikari are very dominent characters.

I actully liked this episode, it was a great comic relief after the whole Dark Greymon arc, and just before the next episode which is argueably the darkest episode of the series.

Though I like episode 14 better.

For those wanting more Digimon sooner, April apparently can't come soon enough. In April they will begin releasing 3 episodes a week instead of the current one format.

I didn't mind how he came back in 02. I thought that that was a pretty cool and surprising twist. Keep in mind that this is the same person who didn't think that the ending to 02 was that bad either. While I also agree that Vamdemon's actions in 01 were more intense, I still think that his comeback at the end of 02 was pretty good too and he was still as evil as ever.

I heard once that the reason he came back was because the writers didn't want a human to be the final villain. That's kind of funny now since they made Kurata in Data Sqaud/Savers the ultimate villain of that series.

I agree. While Romi Paku does a pretty good job with Ken in the original version, I think Derek Prince has an edge in terms of the evil villain laugh. I personally find his voice more memorable, but it helps that I've seen the whole dub of 02 before, as well as hearing it in English. Of course, I've yet to see how Romi Paku handles Ken after the Digimon Kaiser arc as well.

As for the episode, I thought that it was pretty enjoyable. A bit better than I originally thought that it would be. I think seeing all of the Digimon armor evolve with the evolution music in the background helped though. I was kind of surprised that they all were wondering if they were in Japan still when they first arrived in the Digital World. You would think that the change in clothes and their Digimon in the Child/Rookie forms would have been a bigger hint than just the Dark Tower.

I did like seeing everyone's Child/Rookie level Digimon actually doing some fighting. That definitely doesn't happen too often. I don't think Tailmon used Cat's Eye in 01. I think this was the only time she used it. Even thought that was pretty interesting, I kept on wondering why the heck they just didn't stand and fight right then and there instead of running away like that. Sure, there were a lot of Digimon under Kaiser's control, but they have the power to bring up five Armor evolutions at once so they wouldn't be overpowered by the nuraber of controlled Digimon. Oh well.

I do agree that this one didn't add anything to the plot of the arc, but wasn't nearly as dull as the Starmon episode. At least this episode had a couple of more interesting qualities to it. Shuimon's battle was pretty cool, but I couldn't get into it as much. It helps that I'm not that into ninjas to begin with though. I felt bad for Daisuke at the end when he was sad for getting Hikari upset. I just find his crush on her so cute.

Overall, it was a decent episode at best. Some nice bits of action and humor here and there. The next episode looks pretty interesting since it is the last Digimetal before the end of the Kaiser arc happens. I'll be looking foreword to that episode.

I could've dealt with that. Vamdemon is my fave Digimon villain, but it's not worth him reappearing if he's just going to die in the most humiliating, pathetic way possible. Oikawa could've made for an interesting final villain.

It won't be that hard. 3 episodes will be released on 1 day. You can see how multiple episodes can be done in the same post by looking at how I've done Web Ghosts PiPoPa and Eyeshield 21.

Hmm...we don't have a lot left for this arc right? The dark ocean, A couple of Digimental episodes, the Little Edo episode (which is rather pointless too) and then we move on to the final part of the arc which is what...3 episodes I believe? So seven episodes left?

I have to admit that I do like BWG's introduction. He's probably the best villain 02 had next to Ken, and yet wasn't really one. Such an angsty, uncertain character who was brought to life by Mr. Nobuyuki Hiyama.

Y'all do bring up a good point about all the Dark Towers - c'mon, would it really have killed them to see some of the old DD's? I never really liked how the originals just faded into the background.
