I have suffered with constipation for 34 years, I always have managed to "live with it" but about 2 years ago things got alot worse, I have to take laxatives all the time now and if I am lucky may go to the toilet once a week, my stomach bloats terrible and I am always full of gas but now I get a feeling high in my stomach like something is stuck there and the same sort of feeling in my throat it is not nice keep drinking water trying to get rid of it, it is so uncomfortable could it be gas?? also on 3 occasions over the last 6 month I have had a day of total sickness which has gone on for hours and I get a terrible headache with it, anybody with any advice??? I would be very greatfull thank you

What is your diet like? I've found that too much Omega 6 can cause constipation. Omega 6 is found in high amounts in meat, dairy, eggs, grains, cereals, nuts, oils (like cooking oil), legumes, peanuts, and soy.

Omega 3 is Omega 6's antithesis and can help to relieve constipation. FooRAB that have high amounts of Omega 3 are flaxseed, wild-caught salmons in water, and wild-caught salmon.

Here's a simple daily diet that is high in both Omega 3 and fiber and low in Omega 6:
20 cups of fresh, raw, green organic kale
1 cup of organic ground flaxseed + 1 teaspoon of salt
1 tin of wild-caught sardines in water

The above will give you 100% of the U.S. Recommended Daily Allowances of most known vitamins and minerals except for Vitamin E and something called Pantothenic Acid. For protein, I add chicken (make sure it's not cooked with oil though). I also add watermelon and sweet potatoes in order to get carbs and molasses to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Don't freak out and think you will have to eat like this every day for the rest of your life. The trick is to find the fooRAB that don't cause you to get constipation and then build on it. Once you find fooRAB that don't cause you to get constipation, you can add back fooRAB that you like to eat in order to find a diet that you can eat and that doesn't cause you to get constipation.

See your doctor for a checkup - if everything is ok, then you could take a good dose of milk of magnesia the next morning to give your self a good clean out.

Then, I'd try taking a fibre supplement called Normacol twice a day with ample water, or eating a cup of kellogs allbran for breakfast with low fat milk. Either of these will give ample bulk for your gut to work on for normal elimination.
