Difficulty writing notes, letters, etc. lately

Has anyone had this experience? I begin to write a note, letter, etc. and after a few words and sometimes just a few letters, it seems my had doesn't want to 'write' the letters. No pain, no shaking, just this 'hand' with a mind of it's own. I type all the time and rarely write. No problems with that. I use my right hand with the mouse and have had some mild aching and recognize it as where the carpal tunnel is located. So, back when I worked and had that pain problem, I got a brace and when that happens now, I use it. I'm over that very quickly as a result. I'm wondering if this new writing problem has anything to do with carpal tunnel? Has anyone here had this happen or heard of it and if so, what did you do? It doesn't happen all the time, but I'd say, most of the time, if I try writing very much at all. I'm in my early 70's, good health and no arthritis in my hands and no shaking involved. Thanks.

Maybe you should go see a doctor.
I personally have no idea what could be going on...
Maybe someone else might know.
I hope it gets better for you though :)

Yes. I use to have had that. You need to change sitting heights or table heights. I also changed to a different mouse. I found a flat one and it really helps out. you have to have enough room on the table you are on for your arm.

Hi,

I understand what you are going through. It could be as simple as practice. The muscles used in handwriting and other fine motor skills are quite different than the "typing" muscles. Once you stop handwriting on a frequent basis, you loose those fine tuned muscles that allow you to manipulate a pencil or pen easily.

I ran into the same problem following a stroke, after which I neither could type or write anything. Following that, I began practicing my typing to communicate, and "lost" my handwriting. It looked like a three year olds!

I have not regained my previous penmanship. I think practicing handwriting would help a lot, but I certainly would mention it to your doctor on you next visit, due to the carpal tunnel you suffer. I wish you the best. I miss my handwriting too!
