Recently, it's been difficult for me to keep down pills that I swallow. This is very odd, because I never had trouble with this in the past. I can swallow the pill just fine, but I feel it sitting in my throat. I'll drink a lot of water and try eating something, but sometimes I can STILL feel the pill. Water really doesn't seem to help. I drink a full water bottle before bed and now that's interrupting my sleep since I have to get up to use the restroom at least a couple of times per night, and my bladder is nearly hurting each time since I have to go pretty bad. So far wrapping up the pill in bread before swallowing seems to be the best bet to have it stay down. Sometimes I'll cough and the pill comes back up! I've had some acid reflux recently from a medication I take (a pill of course!), but taking it at night helps prevent the acid reflux. I still feel like I get a lot of burping going on, and I feel that it may be what makes the pill not want to stay down. Very smooth gel pills go down easier, but tablets and plastic pills are the tricky ones.
Any tips on this? I am curious to what can cause this when I never had a problem with it in the past? Sometimes I wonder if the pill DOES go down, and it scratches my throat, making it feel like it's still there. Other times, I know it's there, because it will come back up. I don't know why big gulps of water doesn't help!
